I woke up the next day and decided to confront all of my family members. I asked my mother to tell them all to assemble during breakfast, I didn't want to be the reason for them arriving late for their work but at the same time, it was important to talk to then all. Last night I had realised that it was important to let it all out to help myself and to find a better solution of things. Everyone assembled at the table at 8 for breakfast, there was a dead pin drop silence, no one said a word. My mother poured me and my brother our orange juice while she poured tea for Mamu, Dad and herself. Breaking the silence I said, 'Why wasn't I told about it?', everyone looked up, I could see tears welling up in my dad's eyes. 'Beta, trust me, I wanted you to be the first one to know about it, but I just couldn't gather the courage. I hid the reports in my room, but my doctor called once to inform about my appointment, your mother picked up the phone and that's how she came to know. I didn't want all of you to suffer because of me so I told no one, it was only accidentally that Riha( my mother) came to know about it'. I couldn't say anything to Papa after hearing this. I just averted my gaze and tried to look engrossed in eating. I failed as I couldn't eat anything, nothing could go down my throat. I stood up, grabbed my handbag from the couch and left for college, without saying anything.
I kept walking, past bus stop, past the market area, past my college, ignoring the board of All Government Girls College, I don't know how long it had been that I was walking, I came to sense only when I felt a jerk and realized someone had shaken me by my arm strongly, I looked up only to see a man, a giant I would say, as tall as 6'3 and muscular in physique. Even despite being 5'6 I felt like a tiny creature in front of him. I kept looking at him, mesmerized by his turquoise eyes, they were so beautiful yet so scary. There was something about them that could drown you in their view, unable to break the lock, I was brought to sense by honking of a car. I soon realized what I had been doing, it must have made me come across as a blatant uncouth girl, I brought my gaze down on the road, he let go off my arm, and told me, 'Keep your eyes on the road while walking, not on a man's face'.
Even though I was wrong to keep staring at him, he did not have any right to teach me values, I would rather remain mannerless than learn manners from a devil looking giant like him. Immediately I retorted, 'You better watch your words, Learn the courtesy to talk a lady, your rude attitude is going to lead you no where, and if you were so affected by me looking at you, there was no point in saving me from coming under the car', I had realized that this man had grabbed me by my arm to save me from an accident by a speeding car. 'Miss, a Lady like you certainly need not give me lectures on manners, and strange as it may seem to you, I am not habitual of running my car over people like a mad person, I know, so unlike you right?! He smirked and to say it angered me would be an understatement, I now came to know that the car was his and that what he had said before was nowhere in comparison to how rude he actually was. I immediately turned and excused myself and kept walking along the pavement without even giving him as much as a glance, let alone thank him for saving my life.
I kept walking cursing him under my breath. I hadn't realised when I came to the Taj Café, only when I bumped into Bashir did I come back to my senses, God what was happening today! I looked up to see him rubbing his head where he must have been hurt, 'I am sorry, I didn't look up, I was so into thinking about this person..', . 'Hey, it's okay, not that hurt' he smiled and said. 'What are you doing here today? Got an off from college? I guess there's still time for Music Academy' he said looking at his Quartz watch, . 'Yes I know I actually wasn't feeling well so I came here, this place is serene, I like it here', I lied, rather effortlessly. 'What are you doing here, you don't seem like you come here often?' I actually was as a matter of fact perplexed because this place wasn't usually a crowded-people's favorite place, and Bashir didn't seem like the kind of guy who would come to sip and enjoy a cup of coffee at a café, not that he cannot, but you can always tell if someone's is a Café person or a restaurant person . He was more likely to belong to the latter category. 'Actually my friend has come today from Australia after finishing his studies so I am here to receive him, we decided on meeting here and then going from here to some other place, well let's see'. Before I could ask more about his friend just to be a bit polite to him(strange though it is), I turned to see the man who in his confident voice said, 'Hey uncouth lady'. Seeing him made me want to be the owner of a car so that I could run over him. No it couldn't be him. This Bashir problem can't get even more complicated.Hey Beautiful Readers, How're you all?
