(All Your Light by Portugal the Man)
THE streets of NYC were bright and lively as the sun began to set against the tall buildings. It was the usual, busy, enticing Friday night.
People's feet were stomping against the pavement as they hurried through the crowds to get home from their job.
Women were standing at the edge of the sidewalks with their hands held high in the air - calling their taxi's.
Clubs were opening at every corner, horns were being honked at every stop light, and bright manhattan signs were shinning down on the city of possibilities.
Up in the "Broadway Hotel and Hostel", were two young teenage girls, dressing themselves up for another night in the big city.
They passed back and forth their hair curlers and mascara's without a word, accustomed to getting ready with eachother.
It was their second week living in the heart of manhattan, where they chose to spend the rest of their summer to it's fullest potential.
One's hands were busy making a drink for the two of them, her long brown hair hanging over her shoulders as she poured them both a cup of brandy. Her deep brown eyes glanced over to the clock as she pursed her plump lips in thought on how much time they had until their reservation.
Her best friend was in the bathroom behind her, finishing the curls to her gold locks, her warm blue eyes were focusing on the way her hair fell after she released it from the iron.
They were surrounded by messes of dirty laundry and camera equipment. It didn't stop their regular routine however, as the brunette by the name of Gianna, handed over the drink with the click of a heel to her best friend, Kaiden.
Meanwhile, only a few doors down in a much more lavishing room - were the twin boys that brought these girls out to this big city. Though they looked identical, they contrasted in specific physical qualities, making it easy to differentiate the two.
They too have decided to get away from it all and spend their time in the city that never sleeps, and true to it's title - they never did.
Ethan spent most of his days with a girl he met only a month ago. Her rebellious lifestyle intrigued his broken soul - numbing him with sex, parties, and drugs.
His brother Grayson, whom he was once close with, spent his days exploring the city. Finding private places where he could think, absorb, and as he always hoped - meet someone who was doing the same thing.
Though this city drifted the twins apart, they were too caught up in themselves to realize the truth that they've lost themselves.
The girls ran out into the street, crossing the red light. Gianna's boots were up to her thighs showing her olive thighs beneath the tight leather skirt. She flaunted a pink bralette in place of her shirt as she laughed at a silly joke.
Kaiden on the other hand wore rolled up boyfriend jeans with black thin heels and a black spaghetti strapped tank.
Surprisingly, their hair was cooperative tonight, convincing anyone who passed their way that they were models.
Without any knowledge of doing so, they passed the pizza parlor where the twins were having their last minute dinner, scrolling on their phones.
The buildings helped light the dark sidewalks, but were immense and overwhelming to look up to. The girls, who were now on their evening stroll to the pizza parlor on 25th street, were having the summer they've been dreaming of. They truly believed this was everything they've wanted.
