Lincoln had convinced himself that he could stay on the floor in his room indefinitely. There were flaws to this plan, of course. He would need to eat, eventually, and possibly that would involve movement. Lincoln groaned at the very concept. None of it felt real, because there was an evil man dead, a blizzard forming, a wake, a boy - everything seemed to be happening at once and he had already felt overwhelmed. But this - this was earth shattering - a million dreams had begun to spin themselves around in Lincoln's head when he had seen Adam among his rescuers. A million and one dead dreams now piled unceremoniously in the back of his mind.

Adam could not be dead. He'd had Lincoln's entire life to disappear and die, how dare he come back and make Lincoln consider all these new possibilities - how dare he come back and die.

No. Adam could not be dead.
