Calum's POV

I watched Mel sulk up the stairs until she disappeared around the corner. I'm actually pumped to be working this dinner, mainly because I get to see Mel in a dress, she hates them but she always looks beautiful. Of course she looks beautiful any other day, but just something about her getting all dressed up to impress makes her look even more beautiful. I'm smiling like a fool now, but that's the affect Amelia has on me. I've been in love with Mel since she moved here in year nine. I would say crush, and year nine Calum would've probably said crush too, but crushes usually go away. I actually picture being with her, marrying her, kids? Maybe. Life with Amelia in general, but she would never feel the same. She just looks at me like a friend, I guess it's better than nothing. I've been trying to show her I like her in a more than friendly way for awhile. Like when I hold her, or hug her, or even when I go to hold her hand, but she just plays it off as me being me. No matter how hard I try, in the end her mom would never let me date her. I honestly don't understand why she hates me so bad, all I did was make Mel happy, she was so miserable, moving from state to state, country to country, she hates being a princess and I can tell, whether she says it or not. She hates the publicity and the fact that everything she does is on view for everyone to see

"Cal! Where have you been? Hurry! Go get dressed, we have to be out there in five minutes!" My mother shouts frantically, throwing me my polo and slacks.

"Sorry mum, I was with Mel." "You're always with Mel." I turn around and see Michael, figures that comment came from him, he teases me about Mel every chance he gets.

"She's my best friend, and I like spending time with her, what's so bad about that?" Mum walks away shaking her head and Michael just rolls his eyes. It seems like everyone knows I have a thing for Amelia except her, that Luke kid could probably even tell, that's more than likely as to why he called Mel sweetheart.

"I thought we were best friends!" Michael slaps his hand to his chest and gasps in a fake hurt tone. I shake my head and turn to go tithe dressing rooms

"I need to go change, don't do anything stupid Michael."

"No promises!"

I honestly hate this uniform, it makes me look like a prep, something I am definitely not, nor ever will be. It's also really itchy, and the fact that the shirt is white is just a 'signal for disaster' as Mel says. She's right, I can't wear white without getting something on myself.

"Cal, come on! Setup." I grab my apron before running out the kitchen doors and into the large dining hall, this must be some party because the only other time they've ever used this hall was for Mel's birthday, and Christmas. I'm trying my best to setup but my mind just keeps on drifting back to Mel. I feel like such a girl but I can't help it. Whenever I'm around her I can't control the smile on my face, when she smiles at me every part of me melts inside. I just need to see her, now.

"Okay lover boy, snap out of it, they're getting ready to come out." Michael says, snapping me out of my trance. I finish setting out the last of the bowls in my hands then make my way toward the exit leading toward the entrance the would be coming through at. Now I see why they're using the bigger room, there's at least fifteen extra people waiting outside of the dining room. After a couple of minutes they all start clearing a path for the Royal family to walk through as Mr. Laboda goes to announce their entrance.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the Royal family." Once he finishes his sentence Mel steps out and he parents follow with interlocking arms behind her. My face is starting to hurt from how big I'm smiling, Mel looks beautiful, gorgeous, absolutely stunning. She's wearing a white dress that ends at just about mid-thigh, and a pair of heels, not gonna lie, I did think she was gonna attempt to wear her old vans or something but oh well, she still looks beautiful. Once she finally gets to where I'm standing, at the entrance she shoots me a wink and I mouth a 'you look beautiful' to her. I go to grab her arm to escort her in but a familiar face I've come to despise swoops in, taking my place next to Mel, almost knocking me over in the process... Fucking Hemmings.

"May I?" He says sticking out his arm for her to link it with his, she shoots me an apologetic look before continuing inside with Luke. I guess I'll have to accept it, he probably would've caused a scene if she said no. God I hate that dick head. After Mel and her family finally make it in everyone piles in after them leaving me and Michael the last ones in and shutting the big double doors behind us. Before anyone sits down, Mel's dad gives a speech that I honestly paid no attention to, basically welcoming everyone, and thanking them all for coming out, the usual, before they all take their seats. I watch from my side side of the room as Luke pulls Mel's chair out pushing her back in before he sits down himself. I feel a feeling of jealousy wash over me. The worst part I barely got to say anything to her before I was whisked away by Michael to start bring out drinks and appetizers.

This is gonna be a long night.
