It was just a normal day for the Avengers at Stark Tower. Steve was relaxing on the couch reading a book. Tony was helping Thor learn how to cook. Black Widow and Hawkeye were sharpening their combat skills by fighting one another. Scarlet Witch was listening to Tony and Thor arguing from the kitchen. Suddenly a portal opened in the middle of the living room and Stephen Strange stepped through.
"Hey guys! It's good to see you again!" Stephen greets as everyone hugs him.
"So. What brings you here?" Tony inquired.
"I've been so caught up with protecting the New York Sanctum that I've missed out on what's going on around here." Stephen replied "Although I'm afraid that I had to lie to Wong. I told him that I was investigating what happened to the rest of the Infinity Stones."
"What's an Infinity Stone?" Steve asked.
"They are stones of great power that would destroy anyone who directly handled one. In the wrong hands they could destroy the world."
"But if they're that powerful then who is guarding them?" Black Widow asked.
"It so happens that I have one of the Infinity Stones with me. The Eye of Agamato contains the Time Stone. I don't know who has the others."
"So that's how you control time!" Clint exclaimed.
"Yep! Now that I'm here, what are we going to do?"
"Well. We could do any number of things but the one thing we should do is have a back up plan, just in case Thanos proves to be more powerful than we anticipate." Black Widow stated.
Everyone gathered around the kitchen table and discussed what type of back up plan they should have in place. Several hours passed and no one could put forth a plan that pleased everyone else. By the time it was time for supper everyone was worn out and felt that a perfect plan would never present itself.
"I'll see about making us some dinner." Tony said "Thor, would you like to help?"
"Of course. Although I cannot promise I won't burn down your kitchen." Thor commented as he followed Tony into the kitchen.
This last remark sent the rest of the Avengers laughing, dissolving any previous tension as a result of their long debate. Their supper was soon ready and consisted of mashed potatoes, green beans, and ham. Tony prepared the potatoes, not trusting that Thor wouldn't go crazy with the mashing and get potatoes everywhere.
Stephen was pleased to be among his friends again and he requested to stick around for a while. The Avengers were more than happy to have Strange stay with them and that night Stephen was given a bedroom to call his own.
The next morning Thor got up early hoping to surprise the others with breakfast. All too soon everyone else awoke to the smell of something burning. They all rushed downstairs to see that Thor had ruined the eggs, over cooked the sausage, and thoroughly burned the toast.
"Oh Thor. You shouldn't have tried preparing breakfast without me. You've ruined everything!" Tony exclaimed as the other Avengers stood around laughing.
"I'm sorry. I only wanted to surprise everyone." Thor said.
"Well, this certainly was a surprise, if not a good breakfast!" Steve replied.
"Yah! Bet none of you were thinking about waking up to a burning breakfast!"
Everyone whirled around as the voice spoke into their minds.
