Being One Of Them

Chapter V

Mia was still in school, making an excuse to her mom, so she could go out at night. Her mom knows that going out in a full moon is dangerous so she would obviously say no to Mia.

She walked back home with Autumn's camera, she kept looking at it, with a small smile on her face. She thought she could be friends with her if she did her this favor. But little did she know...

The breeze blew in her face, signaling that the cold night was arriving, and the full moon was coming. She entered home, she turned left and than right to go directly into the kitchen where her mom was, she greeted her mother with a hi, "How was school?" asked her mom, as she washed the dishes.

"Oh it was great" she replied quickly. A short moment of silence fell Mia spoke "Hey mom, I have a friend and she invited me to a sleepover into her house, do you think I can go?" Mia asked.

Her mom thought about it for a few seconds and nodded "Yes honey..." she trailed off, she finished washing the dishes and on her apron dried her hands; she turned around and leaned on the counter "Is she a vampire or wolf?" her worried mom asked.

Mia rolled her eyes and reassured her "No mom, don't worry she's human".

"Okay good" she walked around the counter and gave Mia a hug "Just promise me you'll be careful not to go out this night and you'll stay in her house". Mia felt a drop of sweat running down her cheek "Of course mom I will"; Mia broke the hug "Anyways I will start packing my stuff, she also told me I could eat dinner at her house, so don't worry about making me anything"

Mia jogged to the stair and walked to her room. Her room was colored a really soft yellow that made her room look a little brighter, the bed was on the left side of the room and on the right side of the bed there was a small porch where she would occasionally go out there to enjoy the scenery of her small neighbor, but she could also see the forest up ahead, somewhat far away. Before reaching the bed, on the left side there was a corridor, to the right of it had 2 doors that led to her closet and down the corridor a small bathroom. To the right side she had her desk and a small book shelf with a bunch of old books she used to read.

She went to the closet and grabbed a flashlight, she pulled all of her textbooks out of her bag and put the flashlight in there with Autumn's camera. It was barely 3 Pm so she still had a few more hours until night comes, so she distracted herself with homework and scrolling through her phone endlessly.

After a few hours she noticed the sun setting, she grabbed her bag and went downstairs, she passed the lying where she found her mom reading a book with the TV on, she directed herself towards the kitchen, Mia opened the fridge, she opened it and pulled 2 water bottles and she put it inside her bag. She passed the cupboard that was full of snack why not, you'll never know she thought as she opened it and on her tiptoes pulled 3 granola bars.

She left the kitchen and before leaving she yelled "I'm leaving mom, Bye love you" Mia said as she opened the door "Bye Milo" She bent down and patted her dog Milo on the head. "Bye honey be careful" her mom replied back. Mia closed the door and she could feel as her anxiety built up inside. She started walking to her destination: Lupine's forest, a secured area where werewolves go during the full moon.

It was 6 PM and she could see the sun setting, she tried to calm her nerves by playing music which it kinda did, but she couldn't stop overthinking about what's gonna happen to her tonight. She's just praying right now that she can make it safe and alive.

Before she knew it she arrived at the forest, the only thing dividing the place was just a wood fence; Mia gulped nervously and entered the forest. Not knowing what things awaits for her.

Luke's POV

Luke took of his shirt revealing his toned back and leaving him in underwear, that he didn't mind breaking, he could feel his fangs grow and let out a puff. "Ugh I really hate doing this" Jessica exciting the porch with only a towel wrapping her body.

"Why do you hate it so much, it's the best thing ever" said Luke.

"Nah Luke, I'd rather be sleeping than being forced to transform" replied Jessica sounding annoyed by the what's gonna happen in a few minutes. She also added: "I'm still surprised you got to meet the only Lycan pack in this side of town, they transform once in a blue moon... and to top it all of they made you one of them".

Luke admitted that he was lucky he met them exactly on a full moon. They rarely go out to the woods to transform; Lycans only do so when there's a celebration or a rare occasions. Compared to werewolves, Lycans control their animal instincts compared to werewolves who are more drawn into their animal side. That night Luke got to meet them, and their pack leader granted him his new life.

Luke felt silent, he had forgotten he had the ability when to transform or not, he only did it because he enjoys the feeling of the adrenaline rushing through his veins as he transforms and the freedom he feels as he rushes out into the woods "I guess I got lucky... ".

"I feel like tonight will be special" Jessica said out of the blue. "You think so?" Asked Luke. "Yeah I can feel it" Jessica said chuckling a little.
