Being One Of Them

Chapter XI

"That's strange, Luke isn't here" A feminine voice on the porch said.

"A don't worry honey, he's a Lycan after all" said the other voice.

Both figures entered the house and were surprised by the body sleeping on the couch. It was a girl sleeping soundly on the couch. Both figures stared at each other with a confused look.

"Uh... what should we do?" Said the voice.

At that moment Luke walked downstairs; standing at the bottom he looked at his dad and sister looking at Mia sleeping. Luke pressed his lips in a thin line.

"Uhh, long story short she was gonna die so I saved her" Luke scratched the back of his head and smiled awkwardly. A small silence crept after he finished, and Cole let out a small laugh.

"Son you don't need to lie to me" He said in between laughter, he had rested one of his hands on top of Luke's shoulder. On the side you could see Jessica hiding a smile which irritated Luke a little bit.

"No, I'm not lying, why would I make this up?" He shook Cole's hand on his shoulder and pinched the bridge of his nose with his hands.

"well Luke I smelt a female on you like 5 days ago..." She tilted her head in a funny manner and continued on "So this is the girl" Jessica walked up to the sleeping body, she crouched down to take a closer look. Jessica smiled to herself and after examining Mia she stood up "Luke you're so lucky".

Luke widened his eyes in surprise and was left speechless. Luke felt a hand on his shoulder and saw his dad giving him a cheeky smile "Well my boy Luke it's just like his father, we both have great taste" after finishing he started laughing, but Luke shushed him down.

"Can you guys put some clothes on, it's gonna be weird if Mia wakes up with you guys like this" Luke gently pushed his dad towards his room and made a following motion with his fingers towards Jessica, telling her to follow her too.

"I want to see her here when I get back from changing," Said Cole with a smile as he got pushed by his son.

"Yeah, yeah you will" Luke replied somewhat irritated.

After both of them left the living room, Luke walked towards the sofa where Mia was sleeping soundly. 'Thanks god' he thought. He didn't want her to see his family naked, that'd be an embarrassing story that will never be forgotten.

Luke laid his arms on the back of the sofa and laid his head on top of them and stared at Mia's sleeping form from there. Brown soft wavy hair that rested on her shoulders, her soft breaths and a little smile at the end of her lips. Luke gazed upon her without him even noticing that he was observing her. When he noticed what he was doing he snapped out of it and lifted his head up and pretended nothing happened.

'What the hell was I doing' he thought to himself as he walked away from the sofa and went to the kitchen to get these thoughts out of his head.

A few minutes passed by and Mia woke up, she stretched her legs and rubbed her eyes before she sat up; she ran her hand through her hair to sort of brush it. She looked around and noticed where she was, and then everything that happened last night came crashing, she covered her face with her hands and let out a agh sound. 'I promise myself I won't do dumb stuff ever again' she thought. Her train of thoughts crashed when Luke spoke up.

"Hungry?" He asked from the kitchen.

"Oh uh yes" She stood up and walked up to the kitchen, she leaned in from one of the open sides of the kitchen and rested her arms there.

"Thanks... for saving me back there," Mia said, looking directly at Luke as he made pancakes.

"Saving you from myself? Yeah no problem" Luke chuckled a little at the end of his sentence.

Mia giggled at his joke "you know what I mean" she said after her laugh died down.

"No problem" he replied.

After that night they became closer, they let each other in on some of their secrets. Especially Luke, he was always reserved and introverted yet he opened up to Mia. It just happened, it was one of those nights where you sit down with someone and talk your heart out, and he doesn't regret it, he felt comfortable with his decision.

For Mia, she felt happy she could connect to someone, deep within her she felt like she probably won't make friends, the real ones, where they'd do anything for you. But little by little she started making them. It was the starting point of a new chapter on her life, where she could make friends, going to parties while getting drunk, and connecting to people.

Soon 2 other figures walked into the kitchen. Cole sat next to Mia and so did Jessica, on the left side. Cole in a loose shirt and cargo pants, while Jessica was in a bathing robe and a head towel.

"You must be Mia, right?" Said Cole giving a smile to her.

"Yes sir, I'm Mia pleasure to meet you" Mia greeted him back, with a shy attitude

"Oh Mia it's so nice to meet you, I hope we can become close, you can be my little sister!!" Jessica exclaimed, extremely happy, giving Mia a hug in the process.

Mia laughed and hugged her back, she felt welcomed in this supernatural environment. "Of course we can," she replied.

Meanwhile Luke was just eavesdropping in the conversation, silently cooking and stacking the pancakes while hearing them talk. He finished plating the pancakes and gave each one a plate with a thanks from them and he took one for himself. And we all ate in sweet silence, but here and there Luke's dad talked to Luke while me and Jessica had a small conversation.
