I was confused and extremely angry so instead of going home I decided to go to the dance studio, I had to get all this bad energy out of my system. I don’t know how or why but since Damien decided that making my life hell was his new hobby I haven’t had a single peaceful day so I was in a serious need of some kind of distraction and this was it.
Dancing has always being my escape, I started taking ballet classes when I was three years old but my mom says that I was practically dancing the minute a learn to walk so to put me in dance classes was a no brainer, and she was right. Even when I started with ballet I couldn’t leave it at that, it was like the music spoke to my body so everything since hip hop to contemporary dance, I knew how to move to it.
The dance studio was a few blocks away from my house so I left my car at home and walk to it, the streets are almost empty since everyone is still working or at school, like I should be, damn you skater boy for making me ditch class. As I opened the door I heard giggles and laughing coming from the little girls classes, sometimes I volunteer to give them afternoon classes it’s so much fun, maybe I should do it sometime soon. The parents are sitting watching them and it’s almost the end of their class so I’ll wait until everyone goes to start practicing.
“Oh right girls, class is almost over and I have to say you are getting better and better each day, I think this year recital will be the best so far!” Says Ms. Simmons, she was my teacher when I was just starting and she is the best, I hope to be that good one-day. Ms. Simmons looks into the parent’s section and smiles at me and I give her a little wave. “Layken! I didn’t knew you were coming so early” She asks, I stand up and walk to her saying hello to all the little girls sitting on the floor, they are so cute!
“I wasn’t planning to but I felt the need” I explained and she nods understandingly, Ms. Simmons really gets me and I feel grateful for ever having such a wonderful teacher. She looks to the clock in the wall and then smiling widely turns to the girls “So, what do you think girls, do you want Layken to show us a little something?”
I start to shake my head no but all the girls are clapping and yelling me to do it. God, the peer pressure never ends, how can someone say no to such adorable faces? That’s the thing, you can’t. “Sure, I guess I can show you something I’ve been working on”
I walk to the speakers and connect my phone selecting the song I’m working on. It’s such a beautiful song and I feel so related to it, people around me all think I’m little miss perfect and they don’t see me as I am, sometimes I feel like I need a sign from everyone to know who actually cares, I need someone to say something.
I stand in the middle of the dance floor and like every dance I’ve given since I was three I closed my eyes at first, make everyone in the room disappears and as soon as the music starts I let myself go.
(AN: Hey guys, new chapter so soon? I know! So the song Layken is dancing to is “Say Something from a Great Big World. Tell me what you think of this chapter in the comments and also there is a link of a YouTube video of how I imagine the dance would be like, check it out!)
