YES JESUS CHRIST WHATTTTTTTT??????!!!!!!" I swung open the door to find Nick standing there, all dressed up and ready to go....where? I rubbed sleep from my eyes.

"Good morning to you too Carrots!" He handed me a coffee and then held up his wrist. "I was just admiring this beautiful birthday gift you gave o me last night! It seems you had just a bit  too much fun and overslept, but, don't worry, I forgive you." I glared at him, ready to berate him for waking me from my slumber until I realized my sole waking up duties today had been to meet him at the train station for the trip back to Bunnyburrow!

"CRAP! Oh my gosh! I am soooooo super sorry Nick I was supposed to meet you and Oh my God, okay, I can just get ready really quick it won't take a second!"  I scampered over to my drawers and picked out a shirt and jeans. Nick muttered something {for those of you wondering, in the comic he says, "What's the rush?"} and I turned momentarily. "Eh? Whatdja say?"

He didn't answer so I paid no attention.

"Well Nick, I am sooooo super happy you get to come be a part of the Hopps Annual Hoedown!!!" I practically screamed as I ut my shirt on.

"What?" came his reply

Aaaaaaand, of course, he already forgot or was playing, or honestly, it could be both.

I popped on my shoes and out the door, we went, I could tell him all about it on the train.

                                                                                      🥕 🥕 🥕

Once we arrived on the train, Nick turned and began his daily routine of questioning me.

"Soooooooooooo the Hopps Annual Hoedown, huh? Gettin some prettty weird mental images here Carrots. This is a family event, right?" He chuckled softly at his own joke.

I laughed. Hard.

"Oh shut up, you think you're sooo clever, huh?" I punched him lightly in the arm while he protested that foxes are supposed to be clever. "Anyways, you're gonna LOVE it! I told my folks you'd be helping out, and my siblings prepare! SURPRISE!!! Yet another gift from me to you!" "Oh! And my sister Jill is gonna buy you a hat!" I smiled up at him and "bashfully" fluttered my eyelashes. He grinned.

"Yee-Haw. Haha, You know, you should flutter your lashes more fluffbutt, it suits you." He turned his face back towards the front.

Huh? Nick, telling me I should basically flirt? Weird. I glanced up at him and briefly remembered how good he was to me. Always. Every day. "Thanks, Nick," I hugged his arm slightly.

Nick looked down and I saw his green eyes lighten. "For what Carrots?¨

"For always being by my side."

"Aww, always." He chuckled, and we returned to the ride in silence.

Ha

Ha

Ha

hahahahhahahaha

I turned. "What?!? Why are you laughing? You're like a lunatic," Nick turned in one swift motion, to show me a picture. A picture that was taken from a bad decision later than 10 PM.  A picture that is deeply regrettable. A picture showing me and Nick, more specifically, me, licking the side of Nicks' face. Somehow, I had done that, somehow, in some sort of irresponsible....*deep breath* somehow.

"*GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP*GIVE IT!" I hopped up towards his face and tried to get the phone.

"Nah AH AH! Memories Judy, think of the memories!"

"SCREW MEMORIES! DELETE ITTTTTTtttttttttttttttttt!!" I begged. He held the phone too high. so I grabbed his shirt to balance my frantic jumping. But of course, the train decided to swerve, landing me face first into Nicks green shirt. I breathed in the comforting smell. Then quickly straightened and surveyed my surroundings. The animals coughed. Casting warning glances and disapproving auras our way.

Predator and Prey weren't supposed to act that way.

Bias still lingered.

I really did love, Nick. But he shouldn't be getting judged because of his friendship with me. And I cared for him. A little too much.

"Aahha oh, silly us, A bunny and a fox, ha ha, what will other animals think...." I felt a slight blush coming so I turned and viligantly stared out the window. Every damn animal judged. They judged and judged. I could feel searing holes burning me up, and one of them, not sure which, belonged to a very hurt fox named Nick.

Of course, I wanted to apologize.

Except there was no good time. And whenever I turned to say something, anything, to break the silence, all I noticed was Nicks sad posture. And his flat ears. And the minimal amount of depressed sighs.

WHY WAS I SO STUPID??

I could've said nothing.

I could've said something different

I think all the intoxication of the previous night has come back, I thought. 'Cause here comes the headache. Fresh off of the You-Suck-As-A-Best-Friend train.

We rode the rest of the way in overwhelming silence.
