Judy

My  (cracked) phone had finally gotten back to me, and boy was I glad to have it. The hospital only had so many comforts and I was bored. BORED OUT OF MY FREAKING MIND.

I flipped through all my social medias and then went to my gallery. The first thing to pop up was a video of Nick. I stared at his face, wishing he was with me. Or that I could leave. I didn't even feel bad anymore! But alas, the doctors felt otherwise.

And then I noticed the face. Hidden in the background, a pair of eyes observed Nick. I tore my eyes away and looked at the news.

"Audrey Dew here! Currently on the border of Zootopia, and behind me a hospital, the hospital, where our hero bunny officer Judy Hopps is resting after she was attacked, two days ago, whilst on a morning cardio workout. Fortunately, her condition was able to stabilize quickly! The culprits haven't been found!

In other news, Judy and her foxy boyfriend are number one on Oolalah list!"

I muted the TV. "Oh Nick, poor, poor Nick."

I set the phone down and unmuted the TV again. Wrong decision. A picture of Nick and I kissing blew up onto the screen, gossipy news-lady Audrey talking at warp speed.

"Now that's what I call Ooh La LA! In other news, two suspects were taken down to the police station after some suspicious behavior. The screen showed Max, being walked away by one of the officers, and then Jill, being dragged away. Her struggle to get loose broadcasted briefly before turning back.

I sighed. "Oh, Jill."

They zoomed to Max and showed his face. He was smirking, but he was edgy. Always edgy. I smiled fondly. That boy was trouble. The good kind of trouble though.

"This mammal might look like a smooth criminal, but a little bird told me he was released earlier today. The same bird also told me that he is a MIX between a Hare and a FOX! A prey and predator!!! Juicy!"

She continued to blabber, so I turned it off. "I knew I could trust you Nick." Not for the first time today, I wished Nick was with me.

"I see you got your phone back!"

I swiveled toward the voice.

Dad walked in, a smile on his face.

"DAD!" I started to try and go to him, but stopped because of the damn injury on my head that gave me a headache if I moved too fast. I settled for scooting over.

Dad climbed up onto the bed and gave me a squeeze. "I thought you left earlier, with Mom, Oh! Careful Dad!"

"Don't you  worry, I'm fit as a fiddle!" He wiped his forehead and fixed his cap. "Phew! I decided to come back and check up on you one more time before leaving the city."

I anxiously stuffed my hands under my thighs and looked at Dad. "...You didnt have to come back you know, Nick will be here soon. Im really fine."

My phone started buzzing and I looked at it. 'Nick' read the caller ID.

I stared at it.

"But you're not fine. You must have a lot of worries going through your head. *sigh* Judy if, if one of your worries is how your mother and I feel about your relationship with Nick, well, "

My ears perked up and I turned. How is it that parents can read your mind sometimes.

"I know I've had a lot of strong opinions about foxes in the past, but that's mainly because of -who I assume was Maxton's father- and, yes, foxes attacked you. But Nick has shown time and time again that he can be trusted. Look, there is no stoppin yah is there? You've proven us wrong before, and if this is...really...what you want, then..."

I smiled proudly at my Dad. Changing his view on foxes, or maybe just my fox, was great.

"Oh Dad." I hugged him hard.

"As long as you don't go disappearing on us like Maxton did after he got together with his fox."

I pulled away but stayed near Dad. "Can you blame him though? I don't know why he decided to cut off you, me, or even Jill for that matter, but growing up....wasn't exactly  easy for Max. He wasn't popular, you know that Dad. The family, the Burrow, never accepted him.

Dad, there's something you should know. Something happened after he moved away nearly 5 years ago. We only ever got Jill's version of the story. Given her performance at the hospital, I feel the need to have a good sit-down with Max. At least now I know he still exists. Like I told you before, I did try to get in touch with him after I made it into the city, but he was never at home or work. At least not when I was there.

 "YOU SHUT UP"

"NO, YOU SHUDDAP"

"LEAVE THE METER MAID ALONE! DIDNT YOU HEAR HER CONVERSATION? SHE FEELS LIKE  A FAILURE!"

Judy folds her paws "Tomorrow is another day,"

"BUT IT MIGHT BE WORSE!"

Judy frowns and sighs softly.

Judy looks down at a list of things she wants to do. Included on it are

- Extra support

- Talk to someone

- Need a friend

- SUCK IT UP

and then Max with a question mark and a heart.

Judy's flashback ends.

I turned to Dad. "So in the end, I gave up."
