Mark's POV

"Jessica! Riley!" I shouted through the crowd trying to find my wife and her best friend. It has been a little over 20 minutes since the power outage and I couldn't found either of them, so I decided to start looking around... In the dark... oh Joy.

I was about to call out for them again when I heard Riley's voice shouting "Mark!" I followed her voice as fast as I could when suddenly the power came back on. I saw Riley standing less than 10 feet away from me and I immediately started to run to her. "Is Jessica with you?" she asked nervously fidgeting with the layers of her dress. "I thought she was with you?" I half asked half questioned looking over her head expecting to see Jessica following close behind her. "She was. We were on our way to find you, but then the power went out and she started walking in the opposite direction. I followed her and even spoke to her, but she didn't respond" she said sounding defeated as she searched over the crowd of people, looking for Jessica. "Where did she go? Take me to where you last saw her last" I said starting to get worried.

We started making our way to the other side of the room when Riley turned and shouted, "There she is!". Relief spread throughout my body when I saw her standing in one of the empty rooms further down the great hall. She wasn't moving when I approached her and when I put my hand on her shoulder to shake her out of whatever trance she seemed to be in, I felt that her skin was cold as ice. Her green eyes looked glazed over and frozen in place and I had to lightly shake her before she looked up at me clearly frightened by something. When she noticed me, she blinked and immediately wrapped her arms around me holding on to me as if afraid to let go. "Jess your cold as ice. What happened to you?" I questioned her while I took off the blazer of my tux and wrapped it around her. I've never seen her like this before and I didn't know what was going on. The colour was almost completely drained from her face. Her cheeks, usually rosy were now pale and colourless. She continued holding on to me without saying a word, so I gently comforted her until she was ready to let go and tell me what happened. She slowly let go looking around her as if searching for something. "What are you looking for" I asked her, looking in the same direction she was. She was looking around the room her face full of fear. She didn't answer me, so I grabbed her hand and started to take her out of the room in the direction of the hall where everyone was going on with the event as if nothing happened. As soon as we left the room, Jessica's temperature became normal. Her cheeks regained their normal rosy colour and it seems she started feeling better too because I saw her smiling. She was sitting at our table with Riley talking about who knows what. I was distracted and not paying any attention to their conversation. I couldn't help but notice that Jessica seemed to be doing everything in her power to avoid explaining what happened to her.

I quickly went over to the food table to grab a bottle of water for Jessica. When I returned she was still telling Riley about how she admired the colour of the draping and was thinking about changing our living room to the same colour-scheme. I gave her the bottle of water and she took a long sip. With an out of breath "Thank you" she resealed the bottle and placed it on the table. I stood there watching her closely, patiently waiting for her to tell me what happened.

The thought of whatever caused the state she was in frightened me.
