~Seoyeon's POV

I'm sitting on a table watching rain droplets decorate the café's window.

It's calming I don't really mind the soft patter of the rain against the roof, but the gunfire outside.

It sends shivers across my body.

"That's the one!" My brother shouts jumping up off the table pointing to a newly fallen raindrop.

"Then this one here's mine." I say pointing to another raindrop close to his.

When it rains, which is practically every day, me and my brother bet on raindrops to see which one makes it to the bottom of the window first. We call it raindrop racing, it's a bit of a stupid game considering our ages but it gives us something to do and also works as a distraction from the shots outside.

My raindrop falls collecting others around it, gaining more volume. It speeds down past Jihoon's making it to the bottom of the window first.

"Hand over the peanuts Oppa," I say casting my hand in front of his face with an open palm. "Hand them over."

We don't bet with money as we don't have enough of it, usually the currency for raindrop racing is snacks; today is peanuts.

"But Soybean..." He says pouting,

He won't stop with that stupid nickname

"No buts, hand over the peanuts."

He pouts taking the last of the peanuts out of his packet passing them to me, then quickly shoves them in his mouth running away.

That punk

"KIM JIHOON!" I bolt after him. He's stuck trying to open the door to the back which I luckily locked before as he's done this several occasions before.

I hurdle over the register putting him a choke hold. He furiously taps at the register's desk saying he's had enough. I let go of him, but still holding his head I gift him with a strong finger flick to the forehead. He winces bringing his hands to his now red forehead. Still not done, I give him a kick to the back of the knees and he falls forward still clutching his forehead.

I take the key out of my jacket pocket unlocking the door to the back of the café.

Well it isn't really a café but it was when it was previously owned by my mother, it now serves as a small supermarket for necessary supplies such as water, canned foods and hygiene products. Me and my brother, we've owned his place for 7 years now it makes little money, but enough to be able to trade in the underground markets, but what keeps us well fed and healthy is my medical practice. It is hidden in the café's previous storeroom as REIGN, being a large gang whose soldiers are constantly hurt, they kidnap anyone with medical experience.

Upstairs includes my father's medical library, once a successful surgeon and professor at Seoul's Hospital, he preferred things in a hardcopy rather than storing things soft on a computer, and thank god he did because the only electricity in this broken city is generated with solar panels, and this computer doesn't run on solar power. My father's medical library is expansive, including all the previous operations he did working as a surgeon for 30 years, I learnt from them becoming one of the last medics in Seoul, the only problem is with only learning from a professional's library I am missing quite a lot of information professionals didn't have to deal with as amateurs would do them, this included things such as what medicine to give to someone suffering from a cold or even how to treat a bee sting, I'm in the dark with these simple procedures but could easily complete something like a kidney transplant.

Hearing the bullets finally silencing outside, it's time to start cleaning and preparing the operation table for more soon coming patients.

Jihoon enters the operation room, "I'll prepare the table for punishment for the peanuts," he says passing a large filled trash bag, "I already cleaned up the table before, you can just throw this."

"Consider yourself forgiven." I say taking he trash bag out of his hands and walk outside to throw it in the dumpster.

Through the still torrential rain I hear the sound of boots on pavement, then a voice.

"Is there anyone there, help!"
