THE THIRD MONTH OF THE YEAR brought a plethora of redundant rain.
As the third month drew to an end, so did the rain, leaving behind the smell of fresh dirt and air. I looked down at one of the remains of the rain; a stagnant puddle in the forest.
I picked up a lone stone and threw it in, almost unconsciously, just wanting to ruin the stagnant serenity it held. The stone wrecked a havoc in the small puddle but that was all, soon the water stilled once more, this time with the stone in it.
I sighed and turned away. Dal and Chen stood behind me, waiting.
"Did you two find out anything in regards to the names I found on the scrolls?" I asked them.
Shin Geum-Sun. Ahn Kil-Kwon.
The names were still scorned in my mind, burning holes whenever I thought of them.
Dal and Chen had been given the month to find anything about the names and date I had found on the scrolls from when we broke into the hideout of Choe Geon's groups. Though it had been a month since the death of Choe Geon, I could not believe all the problems died with him as well.
"There was no significance in regards to the date, Your Highness." Dal disclosed. "And nor did we find find anything about the name Shin Geum-Sun."
I nodded, already anticipating that little would be found. "Ahn Kil-Kwon?"
"There was something we found out about him." Dal dipped his head. "It was said that he used to be a physician but, apparently, now he works in making poison."
I raised an eyebrow. "Poison?"
I mentally formed the connection between Kil-Kwon and the group. The most obvious reason stood out; they required poison to take someone out.
"A physician turned toxicologist." I murmered to myself before looking at Dal and Chen. "Is he well-known?"
"No, rather he prefers to lay low." Dal answered.
My eyes flickered to the trees surrounding us. "Right. And you two are certain that there are still meeting being held in the Minister of Finances residence?"
They nodded and Dal elaborated, "Though we cannot go up close like we used to, we are certain that the group is still active."
After the last encounter with myself, when we were caught, we had been extra cautious and made sure to stay a safe distance as not to be caught again. They knew that they were being watched.
"I'm not sure how we should go about this." I sighed after a while. "I think for now, we should just focus on training and wait for them to come to us."
The moon struck light which distorted as it passed through the trees.
"Your Highness, how can you be so sure that they will come to us?" Chen asked.
My eyes locked with his. "Because they can never take a chance with us. We are either in with them, or out."
And out only translated to dead.
