Jamie's POV

After we left the hospital, I asked Janko if she wanted to get something to eat.
"No, I'm okay, I don't really have much of an appetite, can you just drop me off in front of my apartment please?"

I was shocked for two reasons. One, being that Janko never turns down food. Like, ever.
The second thing being that she actually thought I was going to let her go back to her apartment by herself.
I gave her a confused look.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" She said with a slight chuckle.
You actually think I'm going to just drop you off and let you go back to your place by yourself?

"Well...yeah, you know you don't need to babysit me" Eddie, said.

I know I don't, but after what happened to you I don't feel comfortable with you going back to your place anytime soon.
As long as he's on the streets, there's always a possibility that he could come back, I said.

I shouldn't have said that last part.
I look over at Eddie and she looks like she had just seen a ghost.

Eddie, I didn't mean to scar-

I couldn't even finish my sentence before Eddie started to break down in hysterics.
She was almost hyperventilating.
I had never seen her so upset before...it killed me.
Shhh shhh....
Eddie, you need to calm down before you pass out okay?
I promise you he won't come near you again.
I won't let him.
And I meant that with everything in me.

Eddie rested her head on the seat, and shut her eyes.
She'd finally calmed down so I was kind of scared to tell her that we needed to go to the police station and file an official report, but I had to do it.

We headed down to our precinct.

"Are Danny and Baez here?" Eddie asked.
No, I think they're finishing up a case downtown.
But detective Jack Russo, and Olivia Waters are here.
They specialize in sexual assault cases.

I was pissed off that they wanted to bring her into an interrogation room for questioning but I just wanted to get this over with and I knew Eddie did too.

"Alright Ms Janko, so what exactly happened last night?"Jack said, sternly.

Eddie told him what happened and what he said next made me want to punch him in the face.

Eddie's POV

"Okay so it looks like you guys had a few drinks last night, correct?" Jack asked.
Yes....so what are you implying sir? I asked kind of annoyed.

"All I'm saying is that Dr Singer is a highly respected surgeon Ms Janko, I just want to make sure that you aren't going to ruin his reputation off of a crazy drunk night" he said.

Excuse you? I asked sternly.

"Hold on, so you think she's lying?" Jamie asked annoyed.
"What kind of jackass sees a women with bruises all of her face and thinks she's lying about being assaulted?" Jamie asked, now standing up and angry.

"Don't think that because your fathers the commissioner that you can just talk back to a detective, Raegan." Jack said, standing up now too.
Jack and Jamie just stood there in silence looking like they could rip each other's heads off any second.

"Look, I didn't mean to step on anybody's toes here." Jack said, now calmed down a bit.
"I'll bring Dr. Singer in for questioning and I'll let you know what I find out." Jack said.

"Don't forget to swab him for DNA either" Jamie said as we headed for the door.

"Will do, officers." Detective Waters said.

We got back in the car and Jamie began to drive.
"You know, I can't stand that cocky son of a bitch" Jamie said.
Yeah he was a real bundle of of joy wasn't he? I said sarcastically.

We finally get to Jamie's apartment and to be a cheap one bedroom in New York City, it was pretty damn nice.

Nice place you got here Raegan! I said.
"Eh, it's okay I guess" Jamie said with a smile.
"So do you want me to order takeout or would you like for me to cook us something to eat?" Jamie asked.
Umm definitely takeout, please and thank you, I said jokingly.
"So what, you think I can't cook? I make the best spaghetti and meatballs in all of NYC!" Jamie said, now laughing.
Yeah...I'm not sure if I fully believe that, so I'll pass, I said, giving him a smile.

We laid on the couch, ate our takeout and watched funny sitcoms all night.
And in that moment I felt like everything was going to be okay.

I think I'm going to go back to work tomorrow, I said to the now almost asleep Jamie.
"Really? Are you sure you don't want to take a few more days off?" Jamie asked, halfway asleep.
Yeah..I'm sure. I'm not going to get better by laying down all day and doing nothing, I said.

"Alright...but you better take it easy" Jamie said.
I will, I promise, I said while smiling.

Hey, Jamie? I said as I slightly shook him to get his full attention.
"Yeah, what's up?" Jamie said, now fully awake.
I just wanted to say thank you...for everything. I don't know what I would do without you. I told him, honestly.
And I meant it.
When I'm with Jamie, I feel so.....safe.
I've never met anyone who could annoy me so much, but also make me feel so important in my life.

Jamie, you've done so much for me these past couple of days and I don't think I'll ever be able to repay you for that, I said while tears slowly ran down my face.

And you'll never need to, Jamie said while looking deeply into my eyes, cupping my face, wiping my tears away, and giving me a soft kiss on my forehead.

Butterflies started to race through my body, he made me forget everything.
I snuggled into his arms and fell asleep with a smile on my face for the first time in forever.
