Chapter 6

Eddie's POV

We've been living at the safe house for about 2 and a half weeks now and everything was going great. Unfortunately no new information on Jake and his accomplices, but nobody has come after us or broken in so far and I couldn't have been more happy.

"So Janko, do you have a date for the ball on Saturday?" Jamie asked.

"Ball? What ball?" I asked

"The 25th annual  Military, firemen and officers ball... you know the ball that comes around this time of year every year?" Jamie said teasingly.

"OH! The ball! I completely forgot about it!" I said with my hands over my face.

"Well, I was wondering if you'd want to be my date?" Jamie asked.

"Wait really? Are you messing with me right now Reagan? You don't have a hot date already?" I asked.

"What? Not even a little bit" Jamie said while laughing.

"So what do you say?" Jamie asked.

"Well, i'd love to be your date for the night. It'll give me an excuse to do something with myself for once" I said as I laughed.

Saturday night

I wore my floral high low, dress with lace in the middle with my black strapy heels.
This was the first time in a while that I actually didn't feel like shit.
I finished up my makeup and put on a pair of diamond studs and headed to the kitchen for a light snack before the ball.

" You're eating again? I've never met anybody in my life who eats as much as you d-" Jamie said teasingly as he cut himself off.

The way he looked at me gave me chills up and down my spine.

"Wow.. Eddie you look absolutely beautiful" he said in complete awe.

"Thank you, Raegan. You look pretty handsome yourself" I said blushing as I looked him up and down.

*At the ball*

"Wow it looks beautiful in here!", I said in shock .
"Yeah it does" Jamie said as he looked at me smiling.

We both got ourselves a glass of wine and mingled with everyone for a while.

"So, do you feel up to a dance?" Jamie asked with his hand out.
"Sure" I said smiling as I took his hand.

We slow danced to a beautiful song and kind of forgot about where we were.
It felt like it was just Jamie and I in the room together.

The rest of the night went amazing.
The food, the entertainment, everything was just incredible.

Jamie and I decided to just take a cab home since we both had a few glasses of wine in our system.

"I don't know about you, but I could go for another glass of wine" I said as I walked to the fridge.

"Sure, one more glass couldn't hurt right?" Jamie said.

We finished off the rest of the moscato that was in the fridge as we watched tv.

I saw Jamie looking at me in the corner of my eye.

"What is it Reagan?" I asked him.

"Nothing nothing , who knew wine could get you drunk though, right?" Jamie said trying to change the subject.

"Nooo that's not what you were going to say, tell me!" I said as I playfully slapped his arm.

"Okay well, even though you're a pain in the ass, I'm really glad that we've gotten to spend so much time together these last few weeks" he said looking at me.

"Yeah, I feel the same way. I thought I would be more annoyed by you by now" I said chuckling.

"Well I'm going to go ahead and get out of this dress already" I said as I stood up, heading towards the bedroom.

Jamie walked in behind me  as I took my heels off.

We locked eyes and leaned in for what had to be the best kiss I've ever experienced in my life.

He interlocked his fingers in the small of my back as I put my hand on his face to deepen the kiss.

He took his jacket off and threw it on the floor as I started to unbutton his shirt.

He then stopped kissing me.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing, just- are you sure you want to do this?" He said looking into my eyes.

"Yes, I'm sure Jamie" I said as we began kissing again.

Jamie unzipped my dress and began kissing my neck.

I then unbuckled his belt and pulled down his pants.
He gently laid me down on the bed and began kissing me from my neck, slowly down to my breasts, and down to my stomach.

Jamie's touch drove me insane. I wanted him now, more than ever.

But as I closed my eyes, my body tensed.
I saw Jake.
I tried to shake it off but I kept having flashbacks of that night.
I didn't want to ruin this amazing moment between Jamie and I so I didn't say anything.

But Jamie immediately knew something was wrong.

"Hey hey what's wrong baby?" Jamie asked me as he cupped my face and wiped my tears away.

I just about melted when he called me baby.
But it also made me feel worse about ruining such an amazing moment.

The guilt took over me and I started to cry harder.
"Jamie I'm so sorry..I thought I was ready" I said as I covered my face with my hands.

"You have nothing to be sorry about Eddie" He said as he smiled and grabbed my hands from off of my face.

"So you're not mad at me then?" I asked nervously.

"Mad? How could I be mad at you? Tonight was perfect." He said as he pecked my lips.

"Yeah it was." I said smiling back at him.

"So..obviously I have feelings for you, and I've had them for a while" I said

"And I've had feelings for you too, I think you know that" he said back to me.

"So what are we going to do? When all of this is said and done, do we just act like these last couple of weeks never happened between us?" I asked him as I sat up in bed.

"Maybe..while we're at work, atleast until one of us puts in for a transfer" He said while giving me a reassuring smile.

"And don't worry, when you feel like you're ready, and I mean really ready to try this again, just let me know, I'm not going anywhere." he said as he kissed my forehead gently.

We both fell asleep with smiles on our faces.

*Monday morning at the precinct*

Jamie's POV

Good morning captain! I said as I walked into the precinct at the crack of dawn.

"Morning! You and Janko got a package from friends, I put em' on your desks" he said as he walked down the hallway.

"We got a package?" Eddie asked.
"I guess so, I wonder who it's from" I said confused.

"I wonder what it is?" Eddie asked as she slightly shook the package.

Who sent those packages? What did they get?
