"Are you ok?" Anne knelt down and asked the soldier. She realised it was Tommy, one of the soldiers she had met when the other boat had been destroyed.

"I'm fine, Thank you. Just cold." He smiled sheepishly.
"Good." She passed him a blanket and some tea.

She then stepped back and shouted so that everyone could hear her, "Is anybody injured?"

When some people answered, she quickly rushed over to the injured people and began to help them.

While Anne was cleaning and bandaging someone's wound, she heard the drone of a plane from above. She looked and saw a Luftwaffe coming to towards them.

"Peter!" She shouted looking behind her and she saw Peter looking back at her. She then pointed to the plane.

His eyes widened when he saw it and he shouted something at his dad that Anne couldn't hear. Men began to panic around her and she tried to calm them down.

It didn't really work.

She ran over to the others where they were planning on how to dodge the bullets of the plane.

When the Luftwaffe's front tipped downwards, Mr Dawson moved the boat, so that the plane completely missed and the soldiers could begin to calm down again. A lot of them were jumpy though, which you would expect after what they had been through.

When Anne could see England on the horizon, Anne just stared at it in awe. White cliffs could seen. Anne's eyes watered as she realised how close she was to never seeing her home again.

She leaned her head on Peters shoulder, who sat on the floor next to her because there wasn't enough room on the benches. He blushed like mad. So did Anne when she saw him blushing.

"Is that Dover?" Alex asked, his voice showing his joy.
"It's Dorset." Peter replied.
"We're nearly home!" Tommy said, smiling brightly.
Anne smiled as she looked around and saw the soldiers getting excited. They were going home.

Mr Dawson pulled into the docks where soldiers were waiting to see how many soldiers had been rescued and get them onto the train to go home.

"Do you have any nurses?" The soldier on the dock asked Mr Dawson.
"Yes, I'm here." Anne said standing up.
"You'll have to come and help out. Before the me get off." The soldier replied.

Anne stepped of the boat and went up to the soldier. She turned and looked at Peter, who looked at her hopelessly. She gave him a reassuring smile, she would definitely come back and see him.

The soldier gave her a few piles of blankets to hand out. She stood by the path that the soldiers would follow to get onto the train.

Men began to file out of the boat and it even surprised Anne about how many soldiers had fit onto the boat.

She saw Alex and Tommy go passed; she passed them both blankets and bid them farewell. She then did the same when she saw Collins go past.

After everyone had gone past, Anne went back over to the soldier to see what she should do.
"You can get on the train to go home, it leaves in 10 minutes. Or if you live nearby, you can just walk home."

Anne looked towards the boat to see if she could see Peter. She needed to talk to him, and quickly before the train left. She saw him on the other side of the dock. Anne quickly speed walked over to Peter so she could talk to him.

When he saw her, he smiled.
"I thought I wouldn't be able to see you again."
He said, giving her a quick hug. They both blushed.
"I wouldn't leave without talking to you first. I needed to give you something." Anne passed him a piece of paper. "You'll write to me, won't you?"
Peter saw that the piece of paper had her address on it, so he could send her letters.
"Of course." He said smiling at her. She smiled back at him.

"Goodbye." She said before kissing his cheek and walking away to get onto the train.
"Bye." Peter said, waving at her as she left.

Anne got onto the train and sat on a seat by herself, next to the window. She used blanket she had been given as a pillow and tried to fall asleep. The train set off to take them all home.
