The Wanted One

Prolouge

"Akira Takashi!" My stepmother yelled at me as I stormed from the car to the house.
At hearing that name, I sharply turned around and glared at her. "Don't you dare ever use that last name again! It is Akira Hughes! H U G H E S! That spells Hughes which is my last name!" "Whatever! Anyway this is the third time you've been arrested and yet you still tell me 'it's not your fault'!" My stepmother yelled at me as she followed me to the door.
"I told them not to hurt the poor kitten and they just attacked me! I didn't even fight back this time look at my face! If I wanted to fight back this never would've happened they would've looked like this not me!" I yelled back angry that no one believed me that I never did anything to get arrested while pointing at my face which had a big cut and a black eye. Last two times were similar, I saw people doing wrong and it angered me so I told them to stop and to avoid more trouble I never fought back.
"Whatever you're grounded so go to your room and leave your phone and book on the table. For every hour, you try to keep lying to me that's another day I keep them and you're grounded."
I turned around and stormed up the stairs and slammed my door shut so hard it seemed like it was going to burst off the hinges.
I know I should be more thankful for my stepmom being there for me and taking me in. Tons of people turned me down before the government found Mrs. Hawkins all the way in California. I used to live in Michigan. My story would be ranked in the top fifteen for worse life, but to me it was ranked number one. No matter how much I moved around I never met anyone with as shitty of a life like mine. But I have no right to say whose life is great and whose isn't unless they told me personally and I lived in their shoes.

My story begins with a river, a basket, and a very caring young ten year old girl.
