"I'm alone. On my own, and that's all I know. I'll be strong, I'll be wrong. Oh but life goes on."

-Taylor Swift

Wow. No. I did NOT just say that. How stupid of me. Excuse me while I mentally slap myself because there is no way in Hell that I said that. Oh well.

So I played and played and played. But I was still pissed, and I mean pissed. Eventually I had to pack up in order to make the party on time. As I was someone came up to me.

"Hey, you look like you could use some extra cash" the voice was obviously male.

"Actually, my parents have enough to pay for what I need." I said looking up.

" Really? I don't see any parents around here." The man obviously had no idea what he was doing. He had on a full out suit and tie, one of those Wall Street workers. I don't know his story, I frankly didn't care, but I was not about to change my morals for him.

"They're back at the hotel, where I'm going now. Good bye." I turned to walk away when there was a pressure on my wrist.

"Don't try to walk away from me," he whispered into my ear. I turned around and slapped him right across the face.

"I do what I have to in order to keep creepiers like you off the streets." Then I ran.

I was lucky, the address wasn't too far from here and I was early, so it was still being set up. I t was obviously a dining room that was turned into a huge dance floor. All of the tables were pushed against the far wall, leaving the stage and the bar completely exposed. It made the room feel extremely empty, that and the fact that the only other people here were the two girls who hired me.

"Oh great you're early!!" One of them said as she saw me.

"Yay! do you mind doing a soundcheck for us? you're gonna be mic-ed" the other sang

"Sure, no problem." They handed me the microphone. it was like the ones people useto keep their hands free. It went over my ear and slid onto my cheek. "Check one two three. This is Kimberly Mason getting ready for the Beacon Hill High School's party in America!" I said in my best announcer voice, making the others giggle.

"So that's your name. We were wondering about it earlier. I'm Jane" said the first one. she was very thin with blonde hair and green eyes.

"Nina" said the other, extending her hand. She had red hair and brown eyes. She was much shorter than Jane, if I had to guess, I'd say around 5'2". Jane was closer to my aprox 5'6". They truly seemed like nice girls.

"You look beautiful in that dress" Jane said.

"Ya! Hey, do you mind if we give you a make over?! I mean, just with your hair and make-up. we still have 45 minutes before the party, and we're all set up here..."

I still don't know why I let them, but I said yes, and they lead me back to their room.

Flash Foward To The Room

"You really are pretty, you know. I'm not going to put too much makeup on you, you don't need it." she said. I was used to people calling me pretty, they didn't even know what they were talking about.I'm a street rat. Nobody thinks rats asre pretty.

"Thank you" I just ignored the compliment, as usual.

Just then, Nina came out of the bathroom. She had on a beautiful blue dress, it was a tanktop with high necklie, and a cut out in the back. It was fitted around her waist and came out slightly toward the tops of her knees, that's where it stopped. She was wearing sequined black 3" heels. She looked amazing!

"Well, you're turn Jane!" Nina said, as Jane quickly brushed past her into the other room. When the door closed behind her, Nina turned to me, "She did a good job with your make-up. Now for you're hair."

"Do whatever you want to it, I swear it'll be the death of me." She laughed.

"Why? I would love to have thick hair! Do you know how hard it is to get any type of wave in this stick straight mess? Oh, and don't get me started on grease!" I gave her a perplexed look, could she be serious? I guess it was funny because she couldn't stop gigling, and it was contagious.

When we both calmed down she sat behind me, playing with my hair. "So, where do you go to school?"

"I'm home schooled." It wasn't a total lie, I was homeschooled, in the last home I was in. That's the other reason no one went looking for me. No one knew, or rather cared that I was alive.

"Oh, that's cool. Jane and I go to a boarding school, in England, if you couldn't tell."

"So, how long is your trip here for?"

"We've been in New York for 3 days now, so we have tomorrow here before we leave for Chicago. Then we go to the Grang Canyon for a day, Las Vegas for two, and finally, 3 more in Los Angeles."

"Wow. That's one long trip! And neither of you have your parents here?" I asked.

"No, only teachers came and they honestly aren't caringwhat we do as long as we're back here by 9 every night. that's why we can have the party, it's technically in the hotel."

"Talk about a loophole!"

"Ya, I know right? We really lucked out, being able to come here." She sat back and sighed, dropping the strands of hair she was holding. "What I wouldn't give to trade spots with you."

"You don't know what you're saying" I snapped.

"Really? You live in the best city in the World as far as I'm concerned. I mean, you wake up every morning to the beautiful buildings, get to walk in the parks and just enjoy yourself. That's what you were doing when we found you, wasn't it?"

"You could say that...Ya, I guess it was."

"See, you really do lead a good life...There, I'm done. Look," She held up a mirror. My hair was braided backon either side, forming a bun in the back. The make-up was suttle, just like Jane had said. There was a very light brown line around my eyes, which combined with the gold shadow made my brown eyes pop. She covered my "problem spots" as she called them, and put a dab of gloss on my lips. I really did look pretty. It's a shame that it wouldn't last. I'd finish the gig and go back to the streets. I felt like a wolf in sheeps clothing.

You don't belong there. You don't deserve it.

I hate it when the voice is right. But that's most of the time.

"You look amazing!!! Nina, her hair looks great! I should have known you's do the reaping hair!" Jane squealed at us. I looked amazing? I take it she hadn't looked in a mirror.

Unlike Nina, how looked very classy, Jane wore a dark purple one strap number that cut off a little past mid thigh. Like all of our dresses, it hugged her at the waist, but this dress was tight to the very bottom. Her blonde hair was falling down her shoulders in curls.

"Jane....You look great!!" Nina ans I said at the same time. Just then I looked up and saw the time.

"Guys, we should go," I pointed to the clock. I left my case, with the exception of my guitar, in their room and we headed out. On the lift ride down to the party, Jane asked me a question.

"You nervous?"

"No, I'm fine," That was the honest truth, until the lift doors opened and I could see the crowd in it's entirety. "Oh." That was all I could muster without letting the butterflies out of my stomach.

"You'll do fine, this is all it is. It's just our class trip." Nina said as we entered the room.

"Wow. Big trip I guess." I said, making them laugh. Before I knew it, I was put onstage. And told to sing. In front of all those people.

A/N: Wow. Will she choke? Is she going to be okay? What if she throws up on somebody in the middle of a song?  Well, you'll just have to see :) Yup, cause I'm evil like that.
