It was another cold, yet bright day, without Nightleaf. It had been one moon since her death, yet Thrushflight still wondered could have been if she had not gone to StarClan.

He stretched his legs and glanced at Creamfur, who had just been given her warrior name the previous night. She sat silently, due to the rules of her vigil.

"Good morning,Creekstar."Thrushflight dipped his head to the leader. Creekstar had lost his first life due to saving Manekit from a falling tree that crashed into camp a quarter moon ago. Quickly, the medicine cat looked over Creekstar's back to see if the scar was healing.

"Good morning,Thrushflight,"Creekstar turned his head, looking at the newly-made warrior. "Creamfur, your vigil is over."

Creamfur got to her paws and stretched before stiffly leaping down the Highrock, dipping her head to Creekstar.

"I need to ask you something,Thrushflight,"Creekstar twtiched an ear towards the medicine cat den. "Some talk has been going around that Clover has overstayed her welcome."

Thrushflight looked at him in shock, before regaining his composure. "I really need her,Creekstar. Without Nightleaf,I don't know who can help me."Dread filled his heart as he imagined the gray she-cat leaving him.

"One of our own can help."Creekstar pointed out.

He wanted to argue against his leader, but he knew he did not have sway over his Clanmates. "Very well. If you want her to go,you can say it."He lowered his head.

"Actually,"Creekstar's voice caused him to jerk his head up. "I was thinking of making it official for her to join the Clan."

"Really?"

Creekstar nodded. "I'm not blind to her help. She eased Dovelight's job of taking care of the kits, and she also helps the elders every day. ThunderClan will need a warrior like her."

As much as Thrushflight wanted to agree,he hesitated. "There are others who...won't like this."He omitted Sharptail and Stripedclaw's names.

"My word is law. They can't argue against it."

"Thank you,Creekstar. I promise that she will be worthy of her position in the Clan."This news suddenly ignited a flame of excitement in him.

Creekstar dipped his head, but there was a glint in his eyes before he padded away as the warriors began rousing from their sleep.

"What's up?"Clover came out of the medicine cat den, parting her jaws in a huge yawn.

"It's great news,"Thrushflight touched noses with her. "But we can't talk here. I'll tell you while we gather herbs."

Clover flicked her tail in interest and followed him out of camp. "Don't keep me in suspense."She purred.

"You know I won't."Thrushflight bounded ahead, heading for the river where watermint grew.

"So what is it?"

"Creekstar is going to invite you to join the Clan!"

"Really?"Clover's brilliant green eyes sparked. "Are you sure? You're not making a joke?"

"Why would I about this matter?"Thrushflight purred.

Clover lit up. "Thank you! After one moon,ThunderClan camp feels like home to me. I thought I would never get accepted into ThunderClan aga-"

"What are you two chatting about here?"Sharptail came into view, his eyes as slits. "How about you do something actually useful,Clover?"

Clover rolled her eyes and pushed past the warrior. "I'll pluck the grass from the ground. It's as useful as your presence in the Clan."

Sharptail whipped around and hissed, but did not retaliate. Thrushflight stifled a laugh, but it did not go unnoticed.

"Oh you're laughing?Wait until I claw your ears off,and then let's see if you're still gleeful after that!"

The medicine cat sighed and turned back to the riverbank. "I have to collect herbs."He stated simply.

Sharptail let out a growl and stalked away. Thrushflight relaxed his tensed shoulders as he started to pluck the watermint one by one. Sharptail's been so prickly lately...even Stripedclaw is starting to leave me alone.

Just as he thought it was enough, the water surface rippled. Thrushflight frowned;he thought that the newleaf winds would stop as greenleaf was approaching. He looked at his reflection in the water, but it was disturbed. Suddenly, his silver figure had a brighter, starry outline around it.

Thrushflight widened his eyes and scrabbled back. Before he could even collect his thoughts,a figure ascended from the water. He instantly recognised the faint outline of the figure as one of StarClan.

"You're part of StarClan...aren't you?"Thrushflight asked.

The tom flicked his ears. "I am here to give you a warning."

"What is it?"His tone was wary.

"There are two warriors in your Clan tied to fate. One will go into shadow, while the other remains in the light. Watch, which one will go astray?"

It's a riddle!Thrushflight thought long and hard, and the answer finally came to him. "It's Stripedclaw and Sharptail..."
