“He, too, stood looking at her for a moment--and it seemed to her that it was not a look of greeting after an absence, but the look of someone who had thought of her every day of that year. She could not be certain, it was only an instant, so brief that just as she caught it, he was turning...”

“Come on Mr. Livingston I’m sure we could get into agreeable terms.” Mr. Evans pleaded.
“Well I’m sorry Mr. Evans but if you don’t pack your things this instant, I will not hesitate to call security.”
Today, I was getting rid of people who weren’t that progressive anymore. Ever since her disappearance seven years ago, I focused on my studies and maybe had a few flings. The result is me being the CEO of one of the leading companies in the world, Livingston Hotel Groups. My father passed it on to me 2 years ago because he wanted to spend more time with my mom.
“Mr. Livingston, your next meeting is in 10 minutes in conference number 5.” My secretary suddenly piped in.
“Okay. Thank you Sarah.”
Sarah was a woman in her mid40s. I was lucky to find her because if I didn’t, I would be stuck with a slutty and snotty secretary recommended by my mom. I mean, who would want that?
Business consumed most of my time. I worked 7 days a week except on special occasions like a family gatherings or Christmas. I entered the elevator and pressed the number 8 button. When I arrived at the 8th floor, I immediately headed to the conference room ignoring the greetings of the employees. I entered the room and readied myself for a long boring meeting.
~~~~~~
I was looking at a proposition when Sarah voice in. “Mr. Livingston there is a certain Mr. Adams claiming that he is pregnant with your child. Should I let him in?” I chuckled a bit and said yes.
“When are you going to stop messing with my secretary Seth?”
“Until she sleeps with me.” He answered jokingly while fixing himself a drink of scotch.
“That’s sick man.” I retorted back, holding back another chuckle.
I continued looking at the proposition when an amused grin took over his face while looking at a letter on my desk and asked, “Are you busy tonight?”
“Besides the land breaking in Queens I have to be at later afternoon, I’m all free. Why did you ask?”
His grin widened. “Well according to this invitation you, Mr. Livingston, are coordinately invited to the opening of the new club down the block.”
“I’m not going.”
“Why not?” he asked me with a brow raised, he was suspicious.
“I just don’t feel like it and I have to finalize my financial report. I have to give it to my father next week.”
“Come on man, get lose. It’s the weekend!” He said while playing with his scotch.
“I’ll think about it.” I don’t want to go but this may be the last one I’ll be having in a while because competition was thick. There were a few companies I still had to crush."
“I’ll take that as a yes. Anyway, I have to go back to work. I have a bunch more reports to fill out.” While standing up, he accidentally knocked his scotch and stained his shirt.
I held back a chuckle and said “You have to clean that.”
“Aw come on man. It was an accident.”
“I don’t care. I don’t pay the janitors to clean for you so clean up. There is a mop in that closet.”
I keep a mop in my office and other cleaning materials because I clean my office sometimes. I don’t really want people cleaning for me. Seth stood up groaning and asked “You keep a mop in your office?”
I shrugged and continued my work while he cleaned.
~~~~~~~~
I adjusted my shirt and looked at the mirror for the last time before heading to the club. I had a dark blond hair color which was styled like James Dean's hair. I was also pale because I spent most of my time inside the office.
I was feeling nervous and I didn’t know why. Suck it up Aiden and get a grip. You’re just going to a club. I said to myself.
When Seth and I finally arrive at the club the smell of alcohol and sweat hit me. I cringed at the bodies that bumped against me while walking to the bar.
“I’ll take a Jin and Tonic please.” I said to the bartender.
When I checked my side, I didn’t see Seth. I scanned the room and I saw him near the DJ checking the set of songs. I went closer and heard him say “Dude can I take a turn?” The DJ moved aside and gave him just that. He wasn’t the type to play with girls, we know our values. I knew that the sole purpose of us going here is to grab drinks and check out the DJ set.
When he started playing, people began dancing livelier. He was really good at this.
“Remind me again why you’re working for me instead of being a DJ?”
“I know I’m good at it but when I have a family, I want to support them in the best I can. I know that being a DJ is what I love but I want to have a family. I want to spoil them as much as I can.” He said with the last part being said jokingly.
Seth was a good man and I hope he finds a girl who he deserves. I knew this because we started way back when I was in college. He was the one who talked me out of playing girls and fortunately it worked. I told him about Cassandra but he said that it wasn’t their fault that she left and it did hit me. Girls don’t deserve to be played with and neither were boys. So I stopped my habit of playing girls and focused more on my studies.
I began making my way towards the bar when a girl bumped me. She faced me and chuckled then I started walking away when she pulled my shoulder and said “I know you. You were the guy on T.V.”
That was when I recognized her. She was the daughter of the famous Antoinette Becott, the famous French designer or my mom’s best friend. She was Nicole Becott or my sister’s best friend.
“Nicole lets go. You are drunk my love.” Someone suddenly piped in.
“Aaawww. You’re no fun Marcus” She slurred and passed out. He caught her and carried her is in his arms.
“I’m sorry if she was bothering you. She is just going through a problem at the moment.” He said sincerely with a thick British accent.
“It’s alright. Do you need help?”
“No, but thank you for offering. Goodbye and have a good night.” He replied hurriedly and left without waiting for my reply.
As I made my way back to the bar again, I saw a familiar sight so I went closer. As I got closer I saw Kyla talking with a girl and boy. As I got nearer I still couldn’t see the girl or the boy. I tapped Kyla’s shoulder.
“Hey Kyla.” I said but when she turned around I got a clearer view of the girl. I froze as is recognized her face. It was Cassandra.
Maybe that was why I was feeling nervous.
