Ch. 1- Shoe on the Other Foot

Skye's POV

I woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm on my iPhone on the bedside table -I only wanted an iPod but Luna Lilah insisted I have a phone to communicate to her and Alpha Kent - I groaned as I reached to turn it off. With a grunt I lay back down in bed, trying real hard not to close my eyes again and gather all my energy to get up.

After a few minutes of being lazy I got up and went to my closet to pick out my outfit for school. I decided on a pair of black yoga pants, a fitted blue tank top, and a black sweater with the word love in white that was surrounded by a heart as well as my favourite pair of gray moccasins. My style was more on the plain but comfy side since I didn't feel the need to impress anyone, but I was thankful that Luna Lilah takes me shopping every once in a while and basically forces me to get things from the name brand stores. Being taken in by Luna Lilah and Alpha Kent couldn’t have made me happier, they didn’t completely stop me from missing my parents but I did at least feel cared for.

I placed my outfit on my bed and opened the door on the other side of my room that led to my own bathroom. Being in the pack house meant everyone had their own bathroom and rooms, so we didn't have any trouble sharing. I stripped my clothes off lazily since I was still tired and placed my clothes in the clothes bin by the shower. I stepped in and turned the water to a little hotter than warm and felt the water pour from the square shower-head onto me. I sighed contently as the water ran down my body and I couldn't help the worries that ran through my mind as I washed my hair.

I couldn’t stand the kids at school, not all of them, just a small, specific group. The group consisted of the most popular and gorgeous people of the school. One of them included Cameron, the Alpha and Luna's only son. He didn't like me very much, but that was probably 'cause he hung out with the popular crowd and I was a loner at school.

At school I talked to a few people in class, but at lunch I hung out alone at the library. I didn't mind being alone too much. Yeah, it sucked when I would just come home to the pack house and not really talk to anyone, but it was fine, I didn't need people to talk to all the time. I turned off the water once I was done washing my hair and stepped out. I grabbed a clean fluffy white towel to wrap around my body. With the towel secured in place, I blow dried my hair and quickly brushed it before brushing my teeth. Going back into my room, I went to my closet again to get a pair of socks, cute underwear and a bra to put on. Once I was dressed, I pulled on my moccasins before I grabbed my backpack and phone and left my room to go downstairs. I went into the kitchen where Luna Lilah was cooking some - well lots - of breakfast.

"Morning, Skye!" She greeted me cheerfully when she saw me. Luna Lilah was sometimes here early to cook so the housekeeper, Elaine, could have a break from the busy hustle of the mornings. I didn't see Cameron so it looks like he had already left.

I smiled widely at her. "Morning, Luna Lilah," I said and went over to her to kiss her cheek. We were on close enough terms to kiss each other on the cheek and act as a family since we almost were.

She chuckled and shook her head slightly while saying, "Honey, how many times do I have to tell you to just call me Lilah?"

I pretended to ponder then looked at her with a smile. “Every time," I said, then got a playful swat on the arm making me giggle. I sat on one of the stools at the granite counter top island and grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and took a bite out of it.

Once I was done eating the apple, I threw the core into the garbage before going to the oak cabinets and grabbing a couple granola bars from it then water bottle from the fridge. "Is that all you're going to eat at school, honey?" Luna Lilah asked me with a slight frown.
