Olympus infirmary

My ankle is completely plastered up. Turns out that I managed to break it while dodging fire blasts from the Empusa. On the bright side I managed to free the poor demigod from her mother's spell. Turns out her real name is Emily and she's 14.

"Happy 15th Birthday Abi!" Percy says as he thrusts a badly wrapped package into my lap. I eagerly tear the wrapping paper of and find a brown leather scrapbook, on the front the words 'Perseus and Abira' are embroidered in gold and silver thread. I give him a massive hug. As I turn the pages I see the first picture me and Percy took together. We were down by the lake, I had a steady trickle of blood coming from my forehead, and Percy's hair was drenched with water, we looked like ourselves rather than the two demi-gods everyone expects us to be.

Flashback

I was 13 and had only been at camp a couple of days, and I was getting tired of being called a freak.

"You've been calling me a freak and a coward but you don't know anything about me so is anyone willing to fight me?" I yelled across the courtyard and that's when I first met Annabeth. I was dressed in leggings and my normal training sports top whereas Annabeth was dressed in full body armour.

"So who are you?" I questioned, wondering how big a threat she was.

"Annabeth Chase, Daughter of Athena." She seemed proud and snobby, it disgusted me.

"So you're the daughter of my dad's cheap female replica." It was more of a statement than a question.

The battle began and it was everything but easy. I only got hit once, the hilt of her rapier slammed into my forehead. So I taught her a lesson she wouldn't forget quickly.

By the time I was finished she was a bloody mess who had to be carried away by 3 Apollo kids. That's when Percy stepped forward. It was pretty clear that he'd been for a swim before witnessing the battle.

"I'm Percy." I looked at him as if to ask why he hadn't made some snide remark about my eyes. "Don't worry, I'm not like them." For some reason that made me trust him.

"Abi, daughter of Ares."

"Nice!!!!!! Wanna go for a walk down to the lake?"

"Isn't that where you've just been?"

"Yep, but I'm son of Poseidon so I like being in the water."

"So it's a bit like how I'm most content when I'm on the battlefield. And is everyone round here like Annabeth?"

"Not really. Annabeth has a friend called Thalia, Daughter of Zeus and a hunter of Artemis. Thalia is the complete opposite of Annabeth but somehow they're still friends." Percy stated as we arrived at the lake.

Before he entered the water he pulled out his phone and turned on the camera.

"Smile!" he said as we snapped a shot of ourselves before both running into the water fully clothed.
