A/N I know you guys really are liking this story, (I hope) but I'm going to be having issues updating my stories and things over summer because my laptop is a pain in the a** big time. Im sorry and I will do my best to update them. Promise. Also, I tend to make a LOT of references to Avenged Sevenfold. Thats because that band has literally been there for me through so much crap in my life that I actually feel a special connection to that band. Just to clear that up. :)

I lay there. The ceiling fan spun lazily, sending a slight breeze through my room. Music overpowered my sound system and I recognized it almost immediately, mostly because I was a huge fan of the band. I smiled and began humming along to the music. Who would have thought that Ash liked Avenged Sevenfold. Hmph. I rolled over so I was facing the window. The moonlight shown in on the end of my bed and I watched the curtains sway with the gentle breeze from outside. I sighed and looked at the clock. Not even an hour had passed since he left my room. I groaned and shifted so I was on my stomach with a pillow over my head.

"Why the hell cant I sleep? I asked. "Why the living hell cant I sleep?"

I sighed in surrendur to my insomnia. I hated being a bat sometimes. I like sleeping more than I love painting. I hardly get to sleep anymore though. I wish sleep was something I could do more instead of paint and think. I hate thinking.

I heard a crash come from downstairs and jumped. By this time, Ash's music had stopped playing and I heard a door open. The phone rang and I jumped yet again. I reached over to my bed side table and answered it.

"H-hello?" I asked shakily.

"Hello Violet, this is Henry from ADT insurance. Are you alright?" A male voice responded.

"Not particularly." I sassed. "Im not sure but I think someone has broken into my house."

"Stay on the line, I'm sending help right away." Henry said. There was something oddly calming about his voice.

"Okay..." I said softly, just incase the robber- or whom ever it was, couldnt hear me easily.

I heard sirens out side the house minutes later as Henry kept me talking to him. I assured him that the authorities were here and that I was safe before hanging up the phone. A cop with brown rooted blonde hair and blue eyes looked around the scene. I recognized him as a family friend. More my friend than my parents because he let me be an intern/apprentice for him as my early start for my senior project. His name was Danny Grigory. His younger brothers, Daniel and Gunner were but a mere couple years appart from eachother. Gunner was the youngest, being two years older than me.

Danny was the youngest on the force. He passed training with flying colors and is quickly working his way up through the ranks in the force. I dont know what the ranks are, really. I just know from a few casual conversations that he is usually the first to question witnesses and victims. He saw me and casually strode over.

"Hey, are you alright?" he asked. "I heard it was your place and- What happened?"

"I'm fine, Officer. Im not sure what happened, honestly." I put emphasis on the 'officer' knowing that he hated it when I did that.

"Play the whole thing back to me. From the begining." He said.

I looked around at the strewn mess of broken wood and glass and cringed. "I was just laying in bed, trying to get to sleep and then... Then something crashed down stairs and then the insurance company called and now you're here."

Thats literally all I could remember. I looked around while Danny wrote what I just said down on his notepad. Among the cops and things, I never saw Ash. I wondered if he was still upstairs and happened to sleep through this whole thing somehow. I shook the idea when I started to over think it. I looked back at Danny, who had just stopped writing.

"We're going to get this sorted out." He said, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. "I'll stay on patrol here tonight if who ever it was decides to come back. Are you sure nothing is missing?"

"Im sure." I said, scanning the entryway over and over, finding nothing missing or out of place. Danny nodded one last time and sent me up to my room once the remaining cops cleared out. I closed the door to my room and leaned against it for a moment before going to lay back down in my bed. I situated myself under the blanket and when Iooked back toward the window, the curtains were closed.

My blood ran cold and I let out a scream when I remembered I never closed the curtains. The figure moved closer....
