Chapters 1 & 2

Chapter 4

Walter's POV:

That night I did not sleep at all. Just the thought of faking my love for some girl I didn't know scared me. I'm not even a good actor. I thought to myself.

In the morning, I made myself a bowl of Captain Crunch and sat down on a barstool. My phone started to ring with an email from Alexa.

Alexa: R U ready 4 today??

I replied with a simple "yes" but everything inside me was telling me the other way.

I put my bowl of Captain Crunch (which was now a pool of rainbow milk) into the sink and headed upstairs. I slipped into a navy blue polo shirt and khaki shorts, then headed out the door.

When I got to the Robbins' house I paused to think about what was going to happen. I was going to pretend to fall in love with this messed up girl, have her fall in love with me, get her to spill her secret, and then break her heart. All for money.

Before I could continue my thoughts the door opened. "Morning Walter!" Alexa said with joy. "Today's going to be great!" I nodded and followed her inside.

Raena was sitting on their huge, black leather couch. "Hey Walter, you ready?" She asked.

All I could manage was a small nod but even that felt wrong. Raena believed that, and handed me a Mets baseball cap. "This hat is your new bestfriend. It has a secret cameras hidden in it so we can see what the Walters are up to."

After about an hour of practicing what I was going to say, we headed to the Waters' house. The girls went first. They explained to me that walking was the best strategy for us, so we won't get caught.

I followed them after about five minutes as instructed. I was told to run until I was in seeing distance from the Waters' house. Then I had to walk like I was just taking a nice sunny afternoon walk with my family. Expect it was only me.

As I walked up the driveway, I could just make out the twins. Raena was perched in a tree near the front door, and Alexa was behind a bush.

I laughed, because they looked funny in their hiding spots, and because this is really stupid.

Clearing my throat, I knocked on the large door. The door handle was like something you'd find in an old scary movie. It was metal, and it had the shape of a lion's head and a ring to knock.

Quickly reviewing the things I was supposed to say, not say, and do, I began to feel nervous. What if this didn't work out? What if she doesn't fall in love with me? What if she has no secret and her mom really did die in that bus crash?

For what seemed like forever (but was only a minute) I waited. I waited and I thought about how to make someone like me. Then, the door opened.

A skinny, pale girl stood in the doorway. She had long black hair that flowed down to her back. Her eyes were like the ocean and they sparkled like stars. Thank god she's beautiful. I thought.

She snapped me out of my daydream by saying, "Can I help you?" Her voice. It was so beautiful, yet it had a tint of sadness in it. I couldn't blame her.... Her mom died after all.

"Uhh yeah" I said. My voice came out in a tiny crack. "I come on behalf of your cousin. She said you need a little cheering up... So yeah, here I am."

She laughed. It was a cute laugh. "My cousin sent you!?" She said in awe. I nodded, "Why's that such a surprise?"

Again, she laughed. "Because it's not very often that an attractive boy shows up on your front step, now is it?" One point for making her fall in love with me.

I felt myself blush, and I tried very hard to ignore it. "Well thanks. I'm Walter by the way." I stuck out my hand, thinking it was probably sweaty.

"AnnaKate." She smiled and shook my hand. For a shut in, she seemed normal. "Would you like to go out for lunch?" I asked as rehearsed with the twins.

She looked confused. "I'll have to ask." And with that, she ran into the

house calling for her grandmother.

I'm super sorry for not updating in a looong time! I just needed time to write this chapter.
