*2 days later*
Mum: Ashleigh come down here please
Me: Coming
Mum: I think we should go and introduce our selfs to the new neighbors
My stomach flipped! I knew for a fact that if we went today we would be the first people in our street to go say hi.
"Yeah sure you wanna go now?" I blurted out.
"Give me 30minutes I'll bake some cookies to take as a welcome."
That was fine by me. I ran upstairs and started digging through my wardrobe to find something to wear, not too reveling yet not to nun like.
I pulled on denim mini shorts and a dark blue tank with the super man logo in the middle and just slipped on my white rabens.
I grabbed my make up bag and ran to the bathroom to turn on my straightener.
I began to apply concealer and foundation, not caked just enough so my skin looked smooth and even. And then to finish off with just a little mascara.
I turned my straightener up as high as it went and then started go nuts on my layers. Once it was all perfectly straight began to start on my fringe. Perfect. Hopefully I'll be able to keep my cool long enough to befriend Calum.
As planed Mum, freshly baked cookies and I headed over the road.
Who I was assuming was Mrs Hood opened the door.
"Well hello there!" she said cheerfully
"Hello I'm Noreen and this is my daughter Ashleigh, we live across the street." My mum replied pointing to our house,"We just wanted to drop by and give you some cookies to welcome you to the neighborhood." she continued.
I stood and smiled as sweetly as I could hoping that Calum would walk by and say hi.
"Do come in," Mrs Hood went on."Are you sure? We don't want to impose on your unpacking."
"No no its fine we were taking a break anyway."
I smiled at the thought of being invite into Calum Hood's house.
As we walked into what would be turned into a lounge room I couldn't help but notice a guitar strap on the table. Now was my chance.
"Somebody plays guitar?" I inquired.
"Oh yes my son Calum, you look about his age. Please make yourself at home, sorry about all the mess, would you like anything to drink tea or anything?"
"Tea if possible." my mum smiled.
I sat silently staring around the room looking for something to do with Calum just so I could bring him up again. No need. There in the flesh he walked down the stairs looked shocked to find two strangers in his house.
"Uh Hello.." he said in a shaky voice.
"Hello, you must be Calum. We're your neighbors we just dropped by to introduce ourselves. I'm Noreen and this is Ashleigh," my mum went on.
I smiled at Calum. I so badly wanted to jump up and hug him but that would not be the best first impression.
Mrs Hood walked back in. "Oh Calum there you are. I was about to come fetch you. Noreen how do you take your tea?"
"Oh I'll come help you," my mum said as she got up to help.
So there I was sitting on the couch with Calum facing me awkwardly.
"So Calum, what school do you go to...?"
I knew the answer but I had to say something.
"You know which school I go to don't you?"
