Never up in the Stars

Never

Have the stars looked so close

Or the sky been so dark

Only miles of ocean

Underneath.

I can see nothing but

The twinkling heaven 

And my own reflection.

As if I had 

A million shimmering freckles.

As if I had

A spot on top of the world.

Up here.

Surrounded by the glow of a thousand galaxies.

Constellations. 

Guiding me, as they have guided

Hundreds before me.

Never 

Has the future looked so bright.

The past

Is left behind.

And the future, 

Is left to be made.

In the timeless

Spaceless

Bliss

This twilight transition

From past to present

Never

Have I been so happy

To be finally gone

From all my troubles.

Left behind at that grass field 

By the airport.

Never

Have I been so sad.

To leave behind all

And who

I love.

To peer into this unknown world

Where danger is around a corner.

I guess, not that different from home.

Never 

have I felt

Dreamt

Lived
