Chapter Three

2001

"DADDY! DADDY!" She screams.
"What Turkey?" He said, running into her room.
"There's a monster under my bed" she whispered
"Are you ok?" He whispered back
"I'm fine but he's scary! Make him go away!"
"Ok. I promise he'll leave." He walked towards her bed and got down on his knees
"I can't see." he said to the frightened little 6 year old on the bed. She leaned over to her nightstand and handed him a flashlight. His flashlight.
"Where did you... never mind." He shined the flashlight under her bed. He clicked the button on and off and made the light flicker.
"He's gone."
"How do you know daddy?"
"I scared him because he scared you"
"Thank you daddy! I love you so much!"
"I love you too, my little turkey"

2017

"DAD! DAD!" Charlie screamed with tears in her eyes. She's bawling now. What she sees in front of her will scar her for life. She will never be the same. Ever.

5 hours earlier

She pulls up outside the house, their house. Her family is already there, waiting in the driveway. Her moms beautiful brown hair being pushed into her perfectly sculpted face. Her father having the same smile on his face just like when Charlie and Isabelle were born. And Isabelle had her beautiful blonde hair that went down to her back up in a ponytail so it didn't go in her face. But a tiny piece fell out of the ponytail, it flowing in front her deep blue eyes in the wind. Charlie walked straight over to Izzy who's leaning on the trunk of the car. She leaned down,
"You ready to go in?"
"Yeah. I just..."
"What baby?"
"I just missed you so much."
She leaned in and gave her a hug. When they pulled away Charlie wrapped her arm around Isabelle and they all walked in the house. They all said goodnight, went to their rooms and went to sleep.

All except for Charlie. As much as she tried she couldn't sleep. She didn't know why she just had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. She felt like she knew something bad was gonna happen but she didn't know what. She thought it was just nothing so she went downstairs to get some water. Charlie walked into the kitchen, grabbed a glass from the cupboard and filled it with water. But she still felt weird. Like someone was watching her. She turned around and there was a tall dark figure in the hallway. She started to panic. He was taller then her dad and surely bigger then her mom and sister. She dropped her glass and it shattered into pieces. He charged at her and grabbed her. She started kicking and screaming. He tried to cover her mouth but she managed to move his hand every time. She felt him let go with one of his hands and reached over to the counter. He was grabbing a knife. All of the noise woke her father. He ran as fast as he could down the stairs grabbed a knife and stabbed Charlie's attacker. He dropped Charlie from the pain. After a few seconds he turned and looked to her father. Grabbed the knife he had dropped on the floor and grabbed her father. He turned towards her and slashed his throat. Her father fell limp and the assailant ran out the front door. Charlie dropped to the floor next to her father.
"DAD! DAD!" Charlie screamed with tears in her eyes. As she sat in a pool of her fathers blood she heard him say weakly but clear,
"I love you turkey."
She was bawling now. What she just saw in front of her will scar her for life. She will never be the same. Ever.
