The Day Date

The next morning I woke up and glanced over at Erika. How does she always end up with ALL the covers. I smile and let her be and walk down stairs and check on the girls. They are both wide awake talking to one another through their cribs. 

"Good morning lovebugs!" The girls eyes widened and they both reached their arms for me with huge smiles. I picked up Naomi first and place her on the ground to play, I then grab Nova and begin to change her into a fresh diaper. Is is weird that I never put their pants back on after I change them in the morning? No not at all. Naomi's a bit more fussy when I change her. After the girls have fresh diapers, I lift them both up and head to the living room. I flip on the TV and Doc McStuffins is on, thankfully the girls love this show, so I have a few minutes to prepare breakfast. I set up the girls highchairs with Cheerios and a GoGo Squeez. I make sure the girls are positioned in their highchairs so they can easily view the TV, then grab my camera and intro my vlog.

"Good morning everybody, what is up? Today Erika and I are going on a day date, while Uncle Tony and Auntie Tessa come and babysit!" I turned the camera to the girls who are clapping and smiling at the TV. "Clearly, they are just so excited for Auntie Tessa and Uncle Tony," I say sarcastically, then turn to see Erika walking down the stairs with her vlog camera in hand speaking to it. "And the woman of the hour, MY beautiful wife!"

"Good morning," she says with a smile. With that I put down the camera and spend the rest of my morning with my family.  Erika headed over to the babies and was recording them, trying to make them talk, it was adorable.

A few hours later, Erika had dressed the girls in matching outfits; white dresses with black accents, white bows, and black sandals.  Just as she was finishing, there was a knock on the door and I opened it to see my best friend Anthony and his wife Tessa.  The girls knew them as Auntie and Uncle because both Anthony and I and Tessa and Erika were so close.  Erika came out of the girls room, baby in each arm, smiling. "T!" She seemed more excited to see Tessa then to go on a date with me!

"How long has it been, girl?" Tessa asked Erika.  As they caught up, Anthony and I headed into the kitchen and were just talking about life. 

"Dude, the girls are so big, I mean I know we were here just yesterday for their party, but we were in and out."  Anthony smiled as Naomi reached her arms up for him to pick her up. "God, I can't believe I'm going to have my own one of these in just a few short months."

I stopped for a second, was Tessa pregnant? "Did you just hint to me that Tessa's pregnant and I'm no longer going to be the only dad in the group?" I was so excited.

"Oh shit," Anthony said with a small grimace, "did I let that slip? Well, I guess you guys can know, but no one else can. Baby, come here, bring Erika." Tessa walked into the kitchen holding Nova. "Well, I didn't do it on purpose, but I told Jake our big news, you want to tell Erika?" Tessa was a little shocked, but she seemed relieved. Erika was ecstatic at the news knowing more babies were on the way. Finally, after almost 45 minutes of catching up, Erika ran upstairs to change and we headed out for our date.

Erika wanted to take the Tesla today, I started driving, not exactly knowing where we were going. "Where do you want to go to eat?"

"Can we go to Panera, I'm desperately craving a bread bowl today." I just laughed as she got lost in her thoughts over the bread bowl.

"Sure, Panera it is."

As we walked into Panera, Erika found us a table as I ordered for us. "Hey can I get a broccoli cheddar bread bowl with an apple and a green tea, also, a bread bowl with Mac and cheese with an apple and a papaya black tea."

"Sure let me just ring that in for you... you're like that famous kid, Jake Paul, right?" I was used to everyone asking me this by now but this server just seemed different.

"That would be me!"

"I mean I know I may just seem like a fan, but I'd love to hang out some time." She reaches over the register and handed me the receipt with her number scribbled on the back, I was super uncomfortable, especially because she brushed against my hand as she handed me the receipt.

"I have a wife and two daughters, you would know that if you were an actual fan." I said as I handed her back the receipt, "Have a nice day." I just walked to where Erika was sitting waiting for the beepers to go off to get our food.

"What took so long?" Erika asked me innocently.

"The server was trying to flirt with me, I just shut her down." I could see a hint of pain in Erika's eyes when I first said she was flirting with me, but her confidence came back soon after when I said I immediately shut her down.

Erika and I just talked and ate, it was actually a really great time. We hadn't had that amount of alone time since before the babies were born. After Panera, we decided to take a walk down the Santa Monica Pier and just talk. Unfortunately, as we had assumed, nothing past that point was alone time, paparazzi were following us, then our fans were surrounding us taking pictures and asking for autographs. So basically it turned into a mini meet and greet. I'm glad Erika didn't mind, she was such a great person, I don't know what I would ever do without her.

By the time we got home it was 11:30pm and Tessa and Tony were passed out in the guest room. We decided to just leave them for the night instead of waking them. The girls were long asleep so Erika and I just snuck to our bedroom and passed out.
