2. The Trick

There could be heard shouting and breaking sounds coming from outside the room.Rex Metus didn't take his eyes off Edmund.

"Now what?" shouted Rex Metus and looked at the door.

Then the door opened and a dwarf was standing puffing with tense in his face.

"Sir, Arthur hadn't died.He tricked us and fled." said the dwarf slowly.

Rex Metus just stared at the dwarf. There was silence for a while. Then  the dwarf continued ,          "Sabre and Sam are chasing him. Sir, don't worry he  will be caught alive."

There was suddenly a smile in Rex Metus's face. He turned to Edmund again and said, "Iratus go and stay guard."

Then the guy at the  door bowed and went away. Rex Metus looked at the dwarf and made a gesture which meant to follow Iratus. Dwarf understood this. He bowed down and quickly left the room.Rex again looked at Edmund with a smile.

"So, It seems your father wasn't dead. That's a good news for both of us isn't it? " said Rex Metus and gave out a loud laugh.

"He will be more useful than you were , I am sure of it." said Rex with still same smile in his face. Then he took out some more candies and started eating. Edmund was still lying helpless and it seemed energy was returning to him. Before, he felt like he was dying but now things were different.

" I always fancied clever people. That was a good trick.Even I couldn't feel his energy while we checked him. It seems that I underestimated your father. But no problem, It must be hurting you that he didnot care you and left his son  running away " said Rex and laughed out loudly.

"Why don't you get up and we make preparations for your dad? I want to tell both father and son some stories before  naptime," grinned Rex Metus and  finished the last piece of candy. Edmund tried to get up , he believed there must be something more important than his son for him to run away. Then suddenly there was again another explosion. There could be heard cries of the dwarf and Iratus . The smile faded  off Rex Metus's face. He looked at the wall at his right. Edmund looked at his face and could see he seemed worried. Then the wall blasted at the side of wall Rex was looking. Iratus flew into Rex but Rex caught him and threw him aside. There was dust all over the room. Edmund looked at  Iratus's injured body. He was unconscious. Edmund slowly got up, coughing due to dust around him. 

When the dust cleared in the hole where  Iratus was blasted right through, Edmund could see his Dad standing with a wand pointed at Rex Metus.

" Arthur ,what a way to introduce," said Rex Metus and he clapped with a grin. Suddenly it seemed like the abnormal Rex Metus was back. 

" Don't move," shouted Arthur as looked at Edmund. He again turned at Rex Metus and could  see his annoying smile.

" Come on Arthur, you know that you are weak for me. I am really furious inside you know. Your childlish action has made my good suit dirty and my men seemed to be hurt." said Rex Metus.

" I don't think you are in condition to talk about your suit Rex. I have a wand which means my magic is magic stronger and effective. You are empty handed.So  you are trapped here until others arrive. " said Arthur with a smile. He looked really tired.

" Hmm, you seem really confident. I think I should , " said Rex Metus pointed his hand at Arthur and immediately both shouted 

                                  VENI !!!!

There was a bang sound, and  there were stream of green light from both sides meeting and creating a huge circle of light. There was shaking in the room.Edmund could feel the tense in the room. He saw  the wave from his Dad was bigger than the other.

" You see that Rex, I have  a wand. I have dominated  you," shouted Arthur.

" Do not get excited , you are too young to teach me about fight," said Rex. He could feel excitement and thrill building inside him. He moved his hand up and  the circle of light blasted the roof followed by both the waves. Soon there was falling of rubble and bricks.

Then suddenly there was a shield covering them.

Edmund looked up and saw all the rubble had got hold by the shield.

" Oh that's cute Arthur," said Rex with a smile. He continued , " You know I am not here to play with you . I am taking it light because I need you alive for the goblet." as he moved towards Arthur. 

"Get out from here Edmund now ,'' shouted Arthur .

" Oh that's cute but no one-" 

Rex was hit by a bolt as he was speaking and fell down. Edmund could see his dad pointing wand at Rex and breathing hardly. Arthur quickly turned at him.

"Quickly , Edmund go , he isn't dead. The spell isn't capable of-" Before Arthur could finish, 

BANG, a wave of red light hit him and he fell down motionless. Edmund was horrified.

Rex Metus got up and said with disappointment " Cadere always kills , now what ?"

"Nooo" wailed Edmund.

Mother killed, Father killed and Brother gone.
