There is a girl named Meena, she is also a ninth grader, but she is an allstar athlete; always one of the best players. Not exactly Mala's friend, but Mala knows her and sometimes talks to her. Meena is pretty, she has shoulder length reddish-brown hair, green eyes, and is tall and in shape, from all the sports she does. When Mala has to compete against her main goal is to beat Meena in one thing or another. But mala is nice to Meena, not enemies, but opponents.
During school, Mala its always sees Evan with Meena, not dating, because Meena is dating one of Evan's friends, but just as friends. Sometimes Mala wonders if Evan had to choose between her and Meena, she wonders would her own brother choose Meena over her? She pushes the thought away, because she hates she even considers it. Deep down Mala knows the answer but yet she hasn't dug that deep.
The way Evan treats her, she's never sure what Evan truely thinks of her. He teases her , jokingly, but she never knows if she should believe it or not. He is nice to her but mostly when he needs something from her. She wonders, if she ever really needs him....
