Hello and welcome.
I shun those that show weakness.
I look down upon those who don't fit the image.
I call people freaks, weirdos, attention whores.
Yet, when these people die,
I immediately switch gears,
I say that I care so much,
Using their deaths as an example.
"I could and would have helped you,
But you should have spoken up."
However, when people do speak up,
I call them weak.
The cycle continues.
I say I care,
But when you really need me,
I am nothing but a shadow,
I disappear into darkness.
I tell you
I will be your shoulder to cry on,
But when you blindly reach out,
you feel the empty promise,
loosening itself from your grasp,
A slippery as water falling off your fingertips.
I claim
To build you up, but
I only
Tear you apart,
I hide the broken pieces of you.
Hello and welcome,
My name is Society.
