Everyone has had at least one moment in their lives where they've either hated or loved their parent. As Ashley stood in front of the punch table hopping from one foot to the next while her mom fished around in her bag for the car keys, she decided that this was definitely one of the moments where she loved her mother.
She decided that when she was done with everything, she would make her mom the best breakfast in the world.
"Here sweetheart," her mother smiled sweetly as she handed the keys over to her daughter.
Ashley reached over the table, her fingers barely brushing against the cool metal before her mother pulled them away, out of her reach.
"Now, I don't want you to stay out too late and don't be too irresponsible, okay?" Her mom warned her.
Ashley nodded her head impatiently and her mother raised one eyebrow skeptically but none the less still gave her the keys. As soon as she had her palm enclosed over the cool metal Ashley sprinted off into the crowd, she weaved her way through the masses till she finally got to where she had left Ryan and the girl.
They were still in the exact same spot, the girl was still unconscious and Ryan was still struggling to lift the girl up, nothing had changed. Ashley let out a sigh of relief.
"You know I'm going to slap you, no, when I find my car keys I'm going to run you over with my car." Ryan said venomously as she walked towards him.
"And why would you do that?" Ashley asked cheekily while trying to help Ryan carry the girl. She draped the girl's arm over her shoulder and shifted her weight so that it was evenly distributed amongst them.
Ryan rolled his eyes in irritation but as soon as some of the weight was lifted off his shoulders, he gave Ashley a grateful look.
"I'm guessing you got the keys," Ryan stated. Ashley jingled the keys in front of him, a sneaky grin creeping onto her face.
The two of them as well as the girl they were barely managing to carry, walked out of the building and made their way over to Ashley's mom's grey minivan.
"Ryan?" Ashley asked as she pushed the button to open up the car," are we going to stash her in the backseat or..."
"Uhhh," Was all he could think of to say because honestly he hadn't given it any thought. He'd just assumed that Ashley knew what to do, which was terribly wrong because she almost never knew what to do.
"Backseat?" He suggested.
"Okay, okay we can try," Ashley said and the two of them shuffled towards the backseat door. Ryan reached out and pulled it open, his grip on the girl almost slipping from the action.
"Feet first?" Ashley asked him.
"No," Ryan began hesitantly," I don't think we're strong enough to do feet first."
"Yeah, true," she muttered," um so should we just stuff her in as best as we can."
"That's probably the only thing we're going to be able to do," Ryan quipped and Ashley stuck her tongue out at him.
"So it'll be like another one of those school sleepovers," she added, Ryan gave her a funny glance.
"You know," she said expectantly but when Ryan was still giving her a confused glance, she elaborated," it'll be like stuffing a sleeping bag into the cover."
"Ashely she's a person," he deadpanned.
"I know but it's a cool analogy, you have to admit it," Ryan shook his head at her but none the less, still preceded to help her stuff the unconscious girl into he backseat of the car.
