Ghosts

Setting: A modern stage

decorated like a country

street. A large, frightening

looking house is set DL.

Narrator: One day Alex was walking home with her friend Jacob (Jake) when they pass a strange looking house. Jake decided to investigate.

During the above Jake and Alex walk towards the house and stop a few yards away from it.

Alex: I wouldn't go near that house if I were you, it's haunted.

Jacob: (Speaking to Alex) I don't believe in ghosts! I'm going inside to have a look.

Narrator: The strange house was locked and the windows were boarded up.

Alex and Jake walk to the house and push at the windows and the door.

Alex: Look Jake! The house is closed up tight and it doesn't seem very welcoming.

Jacob: I can find a way to get in.

Jacob and Alex do what the narrator says in the following.

Narrator: Jake pushed the boards off of one of the windows and pulled himself through the opening. Alex followed shortly.

BLACKOUT

The crew moves the Haunted house, turning it to reveal a victorian style house. Actors and Actresses wear older styled clothes and white powder makeup. Lights come up slowly.

Alex: What is this place? (Looks around and gasps) Oh my goodness!

Narrator: All around the room there were ghosts of all ages.

A young Lady walks toward Alex and Jacob. She looks like she was from the 1800s.

Young Lady: Why hello dearies! And who might you be?

Alex: I'm Alex and that's Jacob. I call him Jake. Who might you be?

Young Lady: I'm Elizabeth Evans. You can call me Eliza if you want. (Whispered) You best move along before someone notices you.

Jacob: How old are you? Are you alive? How long have you been here?

Elizabeth Evans: I'm 25 I think. I died in a carriage accident. I've been here for centuries.4

Jacob: You're right, we best move quickly.

BLACKOUT

Jacob and Alex leave the Haunted House and remember Elizabeth Evans for the rest of their lives. Alex decides to do a report on women's' rights in the 1800's.
