The Hope That Lives Within Me

Chapter 2

Hope and I travelled for a while following the way the pendant wanted to go until it led us to a big oak tree. It seemed it was the only tree that had sunlight shining on it. As I walked to the tree I saw a hole the shape of the pendant. I took off the pendant and slotted it in the tree. As so is as I had fully slotted it in, a door opened up and a yellow glowing light appeared. Hope was the first to go through it and I followed. I was greeted by the warm sun on my face and the same type of nature I found before I came here. I actually expected something more different than my own world but i guess this realm has the same similarities as Earth.

I took a step forward and heared an arrow shooting through the air and landing by my feet. I looked around a saw a figure up in the trees. Hope quickly hid in my backpack while I searched for a place to hide. I ran towards the trees and hid behind a large tall tree. It was eerily silent, I peeped behind the tree for anything then I heard a thump and I came from right in front of me. The tail figure stood towering above me where as looked at it and whispered some prayers so that I may not be killed.

"What is your name and what are you doing here?" The persons voice was clam yet deadly. It seemed to be a he.

"My name is Jenny Maines and I came to find my friends." I told him with a stern voice, trying not to seem so scared. He carried on staring at me until Hope decided to come out of my bag. She floated around him and just as he was about to take out his arrow I quickly pulled Hope into my arms to protect her from the arrow.

"Don't you dare hurt her. She is very precious to me and I don't want to lose her. She is all i have in this place and you are not gonna take her away from me." I looked at him with deadly eyes. He seemed fazed that I had said that but i was dead serious. Just then I noticed it wa getting dark and I needed to set camp. He didn't seem to move so I moved out of the way and prepared a camp. I found some wood nearby and Hope helped with the fire. I set up my tent and Hope's charging pod inside. I looked around and I saw him staring at me in very same place I left him.

"Are you just gonna stand there or are you gonna talk and tell me why you tried to kill me?" I told him looking at the fire.

"Well first of all I didn't try to kill you, I shot a warning shot to tell you to back off but clearly you didn't get the message and I had to stop you from going deeper into the woods."

"So you do speak. Don't you have a home to get to because you seem like a guy who does."

"I don't have a home so I just stay in the trees."

"Um sorry if I triggered something sensitive."

"Nah its okay. I have a question for you. Which friends are you here for?" He asked with curiosity.

"Why should I tell you? You tried to kill me and on top of that you didnt apologise." Hope came and landed on my shoulder trying to calm me down. She was trying to calm me down by beeping my favourite tune. Beep-beep beep-beep. It was tune from a really touching movie I liked to watch. It calmed me down as soon as I heard it. She continuously played it until she felt my breathing was okay. After I opened my eyes, I found him staring at me.

"I'm sorry. I've been through a lot today. I left my family and I'm in a new world and the only thing that is guiding me is this pendant. On top of that I almost lost Hope. So far she is my only friend here well until I met you." I told him with a smile. Then I heard a slow beep from Hope. She looked as if she needed to sleep or charge. So I took her in my arms, went to my tent and put her inside her pod.
