The Hope That Lives Within Me

Chapter 6

Luna

The rain was pounding, the trees were swaying hard and leaves blowing away to nothing like a breeze. A figure stood there in the storm and I wondered how it could do that. I looked around my room for Hope but I didn't find her. I kept looking then I heard a SNAP! I saw the creature holding the branch in its arms like it didn't weigh more than a feather. It looked at me with its orange glowing eyes that made me feel more scared than I already was. Then it ran. I don't know how but from a far you would swear that its legs were joined together. I ran as fast as I could trying to beat the monster following me. As it came into the light, everything slowed and started shaking. I held on to the bed then I heard my name "LUNA........LUNA......LUNNNNAAAAAAA!"

I opened my eyes to see Lucas looking at me with worry. I looked around and saw Lucy and Lanaya at the end of the bed and Hope nudging me. I was dreaming? But it felt so real. Was that even logical? I sighed and sat up.

"What happened Luna? I came to your room to wake you up for breakfast but when  knocked on the door only Hope responded." Lanaya said with worry in her voice as clear as day. I looked at Hope who was currently laying on my lap.

"Then when I came inside you were sweating as if you ran a long distance." Actually I kinda did run a long distance but then it dawned upon me. I tuned out everyone's talking. They were busy arguing about how I looked when they came in. Wasn't I to have a dream about Soluwa and Flitter last night? And if I was what happened? How come I didn't not dream of the people I came for? Could it have been because of that figure?

"Luna are you okay? You seem gone with the fairies." Lucy said.

"I'm fine." I said smiling at her. I looked at Lucas and he looked angry but I decided to ignore it maybe he was just a little worried. So after breakfast, I went to bathe and change into a dress that Lanaya gave me. As I was dressing I was imagining what that thing could have been and why was it following me? Maybe it was following Lucas? He has been here longer but then it maybe isn't?  I wonder what it looks like in the light?

There was a knock on the door. I was already sitting on the bed and I was too lazy to stand up. So I just said come in. Lucas came in and handed me a bag.

"We're leaving now." He said with a straight face. I looked at him in the eye but he looks away. I don't know why but i felt rejected in some way. So instead of asking why he didn't look at me in the eye, I stood up and went out the door. I went to say goodbye to Lucy and Lanaya.

"Well we're off." I said with a smile. Lucy came crying.

"Please don't go. Please stay. I want you to stay here with me and aunty." She said with tears streaming down his face. I looked at her and tried not to cry myself. She looked so cute.

"It's okay. I promise to come back. I just really need to go. My friends need me and I need to help them."

"Okay but do you promise to come back?" Omg it was so hard to say no to this child. It's like she stares into your soul trying to persuade you to do what she wants. It's like she is tearing my reasoning apart.

"Okay. I promise." She jumped up so happy and shouted on top of her voice. I calmednher down and gave her a huuugggeeee hug. I went to Lanaya and gave her a hug as well.

"Take care of Lucas, okay?" I sighed and looked at the ground.

"Okay I will. " I said still looking at the ground.

"And you Mr Sulky. Take care of her. You're over thinking it." Lanaya said looking at the door. There he stood looking at me bug I didn't want to look back. I didn't want to feel........ rejected?...... I guess. I said my last good byes and set off.
