"I think the murderer escaped." Lex approached me whilst I was contemplating on what to do once I catch the murderer.
"Dammit." I swore.
That criminal must be really witty to have me chasing after him or her but end up biting my own tail.
"I think I should take you home." I turned around to face Lex who seemed tense.
"No it's fine." I shook my head and declined politely.
"It's also so that I could investigate your house. A clue might've been left." He suggested and it seemed like an idea I'm up for. Whatever could lead me to the suspect is worth it.
"Okay let's go." A smile kept on his face as his persuasion worked and we both headed out.
☾
"Lex I really don't think there's anything." I dropped the notebook I've investigated for the hundreth time since we arrived.
We've been here for 2 hours and have caught no league.
"Yah." I walked lazily up to Lex who was busy scanning the desk my sister owns.
Due to my sluggish behavior I ended up slipping and falling on the floor.
Why is my life going downhill?
I sighed getting up but was stopped when something caught my attention.
"Lex can you reach something for me?" I pointed to the object laying under the couch which seems like one of Danielle's old shirts.
He reached in and got the shirt.
I teared up as I saw the shirt.
We've been looking for this for months.
Sniffing it I sighed.
It still smells like her.
I unfolded it and halted when a piece of paper stood perfectly in the middle.
"Lex come here." Lex put down a jar he was scanning for fingerprints and made his way to where I was sitting.
Congratulations. You're not yet dead Natalie Rayn. Well enjoy it while it lasts cause I'm coming to get you. Cheers ;)
Lex and I looked at each other in unison.
"SHIT." He said taking the paper.
He read it again possibly making out a clue from it while I sat biting my nails in anxiousness.
"You were supposed to die too?" His eyes locked on to mine worriedly.
Who would want to kill me and Danielle? And why?
"Nath you're not safe." He shook my shoulder making me face him.
"I don't care Lex." I pushed his arm off me.
"What do you mean you don't care. You're life is in danger." His voice begun raising.
"I want to find the murderer Lex. He killed my sister. I don't care if it needs my life as sacrifice." I stood up in frustration.
This shithead of a murderer is toying with us.
"Well if you want to give justice to your sister then live until you've caught the suspect. Don't rush it. We need a plan." He said and I turned to face him.
"Fine I'll wait. But if it takes too long with your policemen than I'll do it myself." I got the paper from the floor and walked out the door with Lex following behind me.
We headed for the car that Lex owns. He told me we'd take the police car for official purposes but I hate police cars. Anyone could've sat on the seats. So we rode his car to get here.
"Where will I stay Lex?" I sighed looking to him.
My mind kept wandering over to Danielle.
I miss her so much already.
"Were staying at my place." He turned his keys and begun the car engine.
"What do you mean stay at your place?" With widened eyes I looked to him as he focused on the road.
"If you stay at a hotel then you'd easily be caught by the murderer. If you stay at mine I'll be there ready to bust out a gun." It looked so cool as he drove with only one hand on the steering wheel.
"Why can't I just stay at a friends house?" I queried.
"Too risky. You're not safe." He smiled at me before fixating his eyes back to the road.
I crossed my arms in defeat.
This felt so much like a drama.
