Ellen’s POV

“Flight 365, Dublin to Manchester has been pushed back to 3:30 PM due to unseen delays. We are sorry for any inconvenience.” The message blared through the speakers at the airport.

“Wonderful!” I mutter under my breath sarcastically. I dropped my bags and plopped down onto the nearest bench, knowing I would be there for awhile. It was only 10:00 AM. What a bad way to start a trip I didn’t really want to go on. The name is Ellen. I’m sixteen years old. My mom decided to ship me out of Ireland for the summer to visit my Aunt Linda in Manchester, and all I know is its somewhere in Britain.

“Shoot! I needed to be on that plane!” I heard a boy with a thick Irish accent mutter. He sounded pretty ticked off.

I look behind me to see a young boy, about my age, beautiful blonde hair, and bright blue eyes. Not going to lie, he was looking pretty cute.

“Were you supposed to be on that plane too?” I said to the blonde boy, trying my best to grab his attention.

“Yes. It was kind of important that I got to Manchester by this afternoon, but what can you do I guess.” he sounded a bit annoyed.

“What’s so important in Manchester?” I asked. Thinking he probably had a beautiful girlfriend or something.

“I’m auditioning for this year’s X-factor, but I have to go all the way to Manchester. But it doesn’t look like I’m going to make it there in time” He said, sounding a bit upset. He ran his hands through his blonde hair and took the seat right beside me on the bench.

“So what’s your name?” he chirped as he sat down beside me on the bench. He suddenly seemed to perk up a bit.

“Oh I’m Ellen.” I smiled at him as I played with my curly, long brown hair. I started to get a bit nervous. “What about you?” I asked.

 “Niall.” He said.

We sat and chatted for a few minutes before he asked what my plans were while I waited for the flight.

“I don’t have any. I don’t live around here and I don’t want to get lost in the middle of Dublin!” I told him.

“I’ve been here a few times.” He shrugged. “I know my way around. I think I’ll go for lunch then do a bit of shopping. You can join, if you want Ellen.” He asked me with a big smile plastered on his face.

I didn’t even really know this boy. Maybe it was the way he said my name, or maybe it was just the charm in his voice. Either way, something must have come across me that day when all it took was a wink from him, and I was hooked. Niall already had me smitten, and we hadn’t even left the airport yet.

 “Sure I’d love to!”

And I will never forget that day Niall and I spent of the streets of Dublin...
