Ellen’s POV

My mind wandered for most of the night. My thoughts were consumed by one thing and one thing only. Niall Horan. He was back in Ireland, and I was terrified. I wasn’t ready to bump into him. But then logical reasoning kicked in and I realized that he would never come to my high school’s beach bash on his few days off.

Only after a few drinks and some encouragement from Annabel, I began to let loose. It turned into an amazing night. It was the most fun I had in ages. And it was all because I forgot ended up forgetting about Niall; he was no longer on my mind, something that hasn’t happened to me in two years…

 *the next morning*

I notice one of my mother’s famous chore/love notes lie on my night side table, as I roll my lazy butt out of bed I read to note.

"Ellen,

I didn’t want to wake you honey. I got a call last night while you were out; I need to go on a business trip to New York for a few days.

While I’m away please be sure to keep up with the dishes, the laundry, the mail, and the vacuuming. Also, please don’t leave your belongings lying all over the house! Could you also please water my plants and wash my bedding? Thanks hun. Oh and by the way, I left the car for you, be safe!

I will call you tonight when I land baby girl. I love you.

Mom"

I groaned. This has happened so many times before, my mom just randomly leaves and I’m stuck all by myself at home. Although this time she left me the car. I took a shower and put on a cute white skirt, a pink sparkly tank top, and my toms. I straightened my hair for a change and walked downstairs to make some breakfast.

Today I was supposed to be going shopping in the city with my mom. I decided I could go alone after I get started on the chores she left me. After all of the laundry was started I walked outside to check the mail and water the plants. My mothers gorgeous rose bushes were just starting to bloom as it was just the beginning of summer. I gave them a nice big drink of water for the hot day ahead and took a long whiff of the beautiful roses and walked up the driveway to get the mail.

I pulled out of the mailbox what looked like at least a hundred letters. I filed through them all and piled my few letters together. It seemed to be just bank statements, my report card and overdue book notice from the library. But then one particular letter caught my eye. It was in a small pink envelope with just my name written on it. I tore it opened and my eyes widened and a huge smile was plastered on my face when I read five little words written on the page…

"Hey babe, it’s Niall writing."

This had to be some kind of joke…
