That pizza eating beauty on the side is Ellie.
Chapter 1
brought another Dorito to my mouth, crunching it whole. Moaning in pleasure of the burst of flavour, I brought another quickly to eat it. My eyes were on my best friend, Abby, sorting through my closet for the end of term party that was going to happen tonight. I looked at the Dorito I was going to put in my mouth and smiled at it, telling that chip how much I loved it. Crunching it, I shouted out.
“Oh gosh, my stomach is happy. Abby, I love you so much for bringing junk food.” I rolled onto my back and stretched my arms out above my head as though I was a cat. An upside down Abby was throwing out clothes left and right. I suddenly went blind and sat upright, my black bra falling into my lap and I stared down at it quizzically. Abby was muttering words of disgust at my clothes and threw my grey sweatpants over her shoulder.
“Ellie, where are all your good clothes?” She muttered, throwing my batman t-shirt into a corner. I threw myself off the bed, landing with a thump to catch my precious shirt. I stroked it as I sat up on the white carpet, glaring a little at Abby.
“You never throw my Batman shirts, you know that.” I growled and Samurai folded it, placing it carefully on my bed. “You’re looking in the wrong cupboard, A, that’s where all the clothes I actually wear go.”
Abby slapped her forehead and walked to the cupboard next to it. A year or two ago, Abby started getting into parties, invited by the popular group as she was always sleeping with one of the guys. She always complained she never had any clothes and always came over to mine for some. One day, my cupboard was a huge mess and she threw every single article of clothing I owned onto my floor and started making little piles. I helped her, moving all the clothes I wear regularly to one side, whilst she sorted through everything I never wear; the party clothes. To make sure she could always find clothes, she bought a small cupboard for those clothes.
Now, I used to never go to the parties with her, it’s just not my thing. I prefer to stay at home and read a book, or watch Harry Potter, but that was before Jake Erin’s beach house, also known as The Beach Incident, or TBI. Abby got herself so drunk that mid-July evening and almost killed herself by drowning. Luckily, someone was still sober, which was unheard of, and was smart enough to call the last person she was in contact with, me. Ever since that night, I’ve sworn that I’ll go with her to every party, invited or not, to make sure she never kills herself again. Or tries too, anyway.
I found myself lying on my bed again; I was so deep in thought about TBI that I never noticed my Doritos packet was empty. I stuck my hand in, finding no chips.
“NO!” I screamed in agony, crushing the packet in my fist.
“I know, right?” Abby agreed with me, falling next to me on my mattress. She saw I was talking about the chips and she rolled her eyes, “Ellie, weren’t you listening to anything I said?” She chastised and grabbed the empty packet to throw it away. My mind blanked, she was speaking? Oh crap, she’ll kill me if I wasn’t listening, so I took a wild guess when she sat back down.
“Uh, yes I was. You were… saying… how much my Aunt Maggie looks like… a… uh, frog?” I tried lying. Normally, I was a good liar, but never to my best friend. She raised her eyebrow.
“You have an Aunt Maggie?” She asked me, disbelieving. I sighed and put my head on her lap.
“Forgive me, please?” I pleaded, pulling my best puppy-dog eyes. She just shook her head no and looked away from me. “Please!? I’ll let you borrow any of my clothes.” She just sent me a questioning look, “Oh, right, you’re already doing that. By the way, when am I going to get my ‘Sleazy with Ron Weasley’ jumper back? Winter’s passed us a while ago.” She pushed me off her and stood up to go back to the cupboard. Abby would never admit it, but she was just a big of a geek as I was.
