Not much happens in this small town, so when something does happen like a divorce or a break up, it gets around. I didn't think Braylen and I were that big of a deal, but it seems as if everywhere I go someone is asking if I'm okay or if I need anything. I mean it was just a high school relationship, how important could that have been?
Spring kind of sucks here, it's always raining and cold. Today is no different, at least it's still spring break, that's a plus. Although I would rather it be sunny over break, I'm glad I don't have to worry about school assignments.
My phone buzzes and distracts me from my thoughts. It's Kaydee, 'Are you going to Tripp's party tonight?' the text reads. I texted back, 'Tripp's having a party?' I ask. I then get a call from Kaydee.
"Hey," I answer.
"Hey! Yes, Tripp is having a party, it's at his house," she tells me.
"Are you sure you want to go? I mean given your history with him." I ask her.
"Well, just because it's Tripp's party doesn't mean I have to see Tripp. I mean, if it was at another person's house he'd still be there," she explains.
"I guess you're right, I have to go Kay," I tell her.
"Okay, but you're going tonight, alright?" She says.
"Alright," I say laughing.
I hang up and throw my phone on my bed. I wonder why Tripp didn't tell me when I was just with him yesterday. I decide to call Tripp to get an answer.
"Hello," he answers, sounding like he just woke up.
"Hey, are you having a party tonight?" I ask him.
He clears his throat, "Yeah."
"Was I not invited?" I ask him.
"B, everyone's invited, it's a party," he says, "My parents are spending the night at our lake house, so I figured, why not."
"Okay, well why didn't you tell me?" I question him.
"Because I knew Kaydee would," He says.
"You don't make any sense," I say.
"Well, Kaydee's the one that makes you go to things, I knew if I told you, you would say no, but coming from Kaydee, she would make you, it's pretty simple logic B," He explains.
"Wow, you're so clever Tripp," I say rolling my eyes.
"I know, hey I have to go, mom's calling me, I'll see you tonight at 8, okay?" He asks.
"Okay," I say and hang up. I don't know if I really want to go, but I think he and Kaydee both would be pretty angry if I didn't. I lay down on my bed and turn on The Office on the TV while I contemplate my decision. I close my eyes and end up taking a nap, when I wake up I grab my phone to see the time, it's 6:30. I've also got countless texts from Kaydee asking if I'm going. I decide I'm going, I mean it's better than sitting around here being bored.
I put on some makeup and some jeans, a white sweatshirt, and my vans. I call it good, I head downstairs and meet my mom in the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" She asks.
"Tripp's house, we're hanging out," I lie, well at least 50 percent of it is true.
"Alright, don't be to late," she tells me. I nod and then walk out the door out to my car.
When I get to Tripp's house only 1 car is in his driveway, I check my phone, it's 7:58, people should be here. I knock on the front door and Tripp opens it.
