The death of the football quarterback was a pretty big loss for Crausers City High School Badgers especially he was the same kid who wins MVP year after year since he first joined the team at sophomore high.

But even if that was the case, everyone was starting to enjoy the vacation following deaths that almost wished that someone would die again for that week and jokingly planned to kill their fellow students for another week of no school work.

But they were disappointed. Classes resume by Monday.

Monday came and Lauren is sitting in the wooden chair that Lily situated in front of the mirror, reading a book in Braille while Lily stood behind her while she stood  behind Lauren with a brush which Lily ran gently through her hair.

“I don’t understand why we have to sit here, I wouldn’t see myself anyway,” she complained, “This chair is numbing my butt.” She preferred the couch where she could sit comfortably.

“It would be very convenient for me to look at how pretty you are even if you’re not facing me,” Lily responded in a way that Lauren couldn’t tell if she meant it or if she’s cajoling her.

“Wowww…Was that a way to compliment me or an excuse to flatter yourself?” Lauren said sarcastically. People around them have said that they do look a lot like each other except for the eyes for Lauren’s are green while Lily has penetratingly dark brown eyes.

“You’re pretty. And wise. And intelligent. And kind. Trust me, I mean it. You portray love itself in human form,” Lily said as she pulled a section of Lauren’s hair at the edge of her forehead and started to braid it.

Part of Lauren dissed her in disbelief while she can’t help the bigger part that was flattered and trying its best to hide it. She felt her cheeks become hotter and denser than the rest of her face and she could only hope that Lily didn’t see her.

“I think the only way you can compare me with love is the fact that I am blind,” she countered.

Lily heaved a sigh. Lauren could feel it blow her hair and hear its whispers that could’ve said a million different undecodable words. Gently, she said, “No. Love was never blind. In fact, it sees unfathomably more than what the eyes can— and more clear. That’s you, Lauren. You see your thoughts from your beautiful mind and its value counts down from infinity. Love focus on the bigger, more beautiful picture. It denies apathy, though. And like how love sees it better, you are blessed for you can see things better in your thoughts than what your eyes can show you.”

They were silent.

“Wow,” Lauren said suddenly as she clapped her hands slowly and mockingly and pretends to be emotional, “That, that was beautiful. I, I was touched,” then switching to a fast-talking sarcastic tone, “I wonder why you only got a B for English this year.”

Lily was nonchalant with all the mockery of her sister. She really meant it. She sounded like she had a strong need to be able to say it.

“But… Lauren, you know, if I could ever bequeath you anything, if possible, I would want you to have my eyes. You’ll finally see the world,” Lily said.

In the back of Lauren’s mind, even if she told herself to accept her fate to be blind, she wants to be able to see.

“Maybe, if I die young.”

“Don’t talk like that!” she shouted at her indignantly, “ I’d rather live a darkness for the rest of my life than lose your light.”

Lily looked at the clock and it told her that it’s fifteen minutes before seven and they better go. She abruptly grabbed Lauren in the middle of the intense spur of her emotions.

She quickly and carefully led her downstairs and she complained about this everytime because she blames them for her not being accustomed going around the house by herself. They kissed their mom goodbye and she kissed them both in the forehead.

Lily has been leading Lauren to school since eight when their mom figured that at the age they could be responsible and let them by themselves. She would first lead her to her special classes for the blind people.

Lauren  was blind since the day were born. Never had she known what she looked like nor had she ever caught a glimpse of light in her eyes. She only knew how to interpret them in her imagination.

They walked in silence.

The school was only a few blocks from their home but they had some time to talk a bit. They had mentioned the sense of sight, so Lauren was quite stuck with the subject.

“Lily,” Lauren suddenly spoke after moments of dead silence between the two of them since they walked from the front steps of our house to the pavements of Schrödinger St.

“Yeah,” Lily answers.

“Tell me one word to describe this world,” she’s still had it hung in her heart, the undying wish, as a few of her taste buds had been touched by bitterness because of her slim hopes of ever seeing.

Lily paused.

“Lately,” she paused again, “ Horrifying, really.”

“Why would you say so?”

She paused again looking down to her shoes.

“I really don’t want to talk about it right, now,” she said as she looked up again.

But Lauren’s curiosity is being tickled and she needs an answer.

“Why’s that so?”

But before she could start bugging Lily to answering her question, Allen said hi and they are now on the school grounds where he patiently waited for them and for the bell to ring.

“Looking good, Lauren,” Allen complimented on her hair ‘do since she usually have them just resting on her back and behind her ears.

“Yeah,” she smiled, “You too, Allen,” she kidded and the three of them laughed.

They started walking to Lauren’s classroom and by the time they got by its door, the bell above the pillar to their right rang loudly that Lily and Allen could still hear it ringing in their ears by the time they got to their own class.

Uggh... I hate myself for being such a slacker off ... I won' make excuses about  my school work because I hate when other auhors do that... I want to act  more professional like this job is the  reason I live and it is... Thing is, we don't have a  computer at home bu  t i'll do whatever it takes to keep you updated starting Saturday next week...

Keep the comments coming... That is the exact thing I need so that I'd know if this is even worth it... Blame the pretty  low self- esteem that I have...
