Chapter 2:New Assignments and kryptonite

Lois Pov:
I woke up at 7 am, and noticed Clark gone (which i firgured would happen). I have to be at work by 8am so i hurry up and get my self togethet so I would have enough time for breakfast and coffee.
*At the Daily Planet*
Clark Pov:
I feel bad about leaving Lois' without saying goodbye. It was rude of me but i felt it would be awkward when we woke up. As the years I went by, Lois has learned to open up to me in ways i didn't think she would. She has always been self-assured and hasnt given the time to make friends. We actually used to hate each other but our love - hate relationship turned into a steady ftiendship. Sometimes I would wonder what it would actually be like to be with Lois. Speaking of Lois, where was she. Its 8:00 already and shes almost never late.
Lois Pov: Well it looks like im going to be late today. My stupid coffee spiled all over my new blue button down shirt, so I had to refreshen up. I hope Perry doesnt get on my case today because I am sure enough not in the mood.
*Arrival to the daily planet*
Still Lois Pov:
I finally make it to work 30 minutes late thanks to the coffee. I see Perry and i immediately go to him to explain the reasoning of my tardiness. He understand and I start to walk away. I stop at Clark's desk to see what he's up to and why he left unnoticed.
"Hello Clark, I see you have a way of makings go unnoticed, hint hint sneaking out of my apartment"i say.
"Well you see Lois I-"
"Save it smallville, what are you working on?" I ask. I didnt mean to cut him off but I knew good ole' farmboy had a good excuse anyway.
"Well Perry gave me a new case and its on a new drug called kryptonite"he says.
"Oh cool, are you working solo?"I say
"Yes until Perry decides to add a partner to tag along with me".he says
"Lois, Clark, get into my office asap"yells Perry.
We both hurry to make our way to our low tempered boss' office.
"You wanted to see us, Perry?"I say
"Yes, I need you two both to work together to find put more about this red kyrptonite, I heard it affects Superman greatly."
"Sure thing boss"says Clark.
I sigh. Somehow Perry always manages to get Clark and I to work together. I actually can't complain because, Clark's a good partner and we have somethings in common. As hard as it is to admit, I sort of like being around him. He's a good friend. Any girl would be lucky to have him...
*Clark Pov:
This is just great. Perry just had to put us together on a case that involves kryptonite. I can't risk Lois finding out about my powers or weaknesses. Not that I don't trust her, its just I don't know if im ready to expose myself to anyone else. Chloe, my mom and Oliver already knows and my dad had to die knowing my secret. I cant risk letting anyone else, especially Lois die or get injured because they know my secret. As soon as Lois aproaches me, she asks of Id like to go to lunch at the diner downtown. I accept her request and we start to head out.
Lois Pov: Ok something is definitely not right. Ever since Perry put us on this case, Clarks been acting weirder and weirder. I decide to brush it off and go about our day.
