"Newt, I'm telling you, one day, soon, you'll have to leave. Take your friends and look for that so-called safe heaven," Ellis told me with calmness and sincere in his voice.

He is a skinny, average height, blond boy. He has light brown eyes, sometimes it feels like he can see your soul. We don't remember his exact birthday, but I guess he is somewhere around 18. Just two years older than me and the other Gladers. Ellis is optimistic and protective of everyone he calls a friend. He really always thinks of everyone before himself. He just has one problem. He has the the Flare.

"I know, Ellis you tell me that every bloody time I visit,"

He lives in a small abandoned building. All he has here is an old hammock, a few chairs, and a light. He insisted on moving here instead of living in the town we found close to the beach. He's only two months into the Flare but he already fears hurting us. Even though he is still very sane, not aggressive at all if anything he has even become calmer. The only effects he has are that his memory fails him at times, and some veins are slightly becoming visible in his lower neck.

I come to visit here often, this place is just 40 minutes away from the town if I take the car. I have to sneak out. I didn't tell the others that I know where Ellis stays, not even Sonya, to them, he caught the Flare and ran away to who knows where. I won't tell them, it's just that he has been through so much and doesn't need their pity.

"Yeah, and do you listen? No. You don't know who else is not immune, you need to leave before anyone else gets the Flare. There are so many of you, go and find a safer place and build a new city, just like the one here," Ellis said as he sat in his hammock.

"Your memory is blurry again. The Flare is air born. It won't change anything if we leave, everyone knows the risk. Plus, you're right, remember the plan, Ellis. We'll stay here some time, rescue as many imminues as we can from WICKED, then leave when the ship is ready," I told him taking a seat in an old chair.

"Oh... you're right... I totally forgot about the ship. You know who could have led all the people from the town to a safer place?" He said, his face brightening with those last words.

"Who?" I replied with a small laugh as I scratched the back of my head nervously. He always mentioned this.

"Your brother... He was a natural leader, a great man. You should be proud of who he was," He said patting me on the back, reaching from the hammock.

"I am," Talking about it is always hard

"I mean, he could have totally taken WICKED out of the map. Now your friend Thomas is our best hope. There is something good about that boy. And with your help, all of you will get to safety. You are very smart, take a use of your talent, Newt... And of your immunity, you don't have to fear, getting the Flare at least... But enough of that, now, tell me, does Frypan still cook? For the town," He said, he found it very easy to change depressing subjects to more happy stuff. I laughed.

"Yeah, his beef as good as it can get," I replied. He laughed

"You hate it," He said laughing

"I don't hate it- it's just not my thing, you know?" I said

"Nah, you hate it," We both laughed.

This is nice, having a good laugh with him, despite everything. We sat there, just smiling for a minute.

"It's getting late, I better leave so I can get back before sunset," I said getting up

"Oh yeah, be careful, okay?" He stood up and gave me a hug

"Sure, you too... Yo- You don't need to stay here. You could come back."

"There you go again," He said mockingly

"I mean it. You are not showing any dangerous effects of the Flare-"

"Yet. I'm not dangerous, you're right. But I will be, maybe in a long time, maybe soon,"

"Yeah, but if we could just get you the serum, then you could sta-"

"Newt! Its okay, I'm okay here. It's not that bad, really. I am going to turn into a crank. We can't take any chances. You should really go, you don't want to be out there at night," I stood there a minute not saying anything

"Okay... I'll come back soon. Take care," I replied in a low voice. He pulled me into another hug, let go, put a hand on the top of my head and shook my hair, laughed, then slightly pushed my head towards the door.

"See ya, shank," He said. I smiled at him and exited. Ellis stood at the door.

"Hey, if you see any cracks in your way home, send them here, might start a club!" He said with a smile as I walked to the car.

"Shut up," I laughed.

Hey guys! I hope you like this story

Rights/ credit to James Dashner, the original author of the storyline and characters.

Background of the story;

This was actually a dream. Yeah, sounds weird but it was soooo cool I had to write it. It had the storyline, details, twists, I could not have come up with it. Since it was a dream, I had all the images, and new characters and I could see everything. So it was like another movie and it was sooo cool. I finished the dream so I already have all the story done. It was really the ending that made me write it down because it was so good and emotional. I will try to make the story as much as the dream, but its hard sometimes to describe actions. Still, I hope you enjoy it! Sure I did, I woke up crying this morning when I had the dream, it was just that good!

Next chapter coming soon.
