As they ran to the garage, [Y/N] wondered in slight anger why Saeran had decided to take MC so soon. He wasn't acting according to plan. Why had he disobeyed Savior's orders?
They hopped in one of Seven's cars and drove off. [Y/N] noticed how tightly Seven gripped the wheel, his face screwed up in determination. She gently laid a hand on his shoulder and he visibly relaxed, turning and shooting her a small but sincere smile before focusing on the road again.
As soon as they pulled up in front of the building, they rushed in and ran up the stairs to where MC was. Seven tried opening the door, but it was locked. He jiggled the doorknob in frustration and shouted "Open the door!"
"Wait," said [Y/N], laying a hand on his. He got the message and moved them away from the doorknob. [Y/N] reached in her pocket and pulled out a small prototype she'd worked on at the Mint Eye.
"Is that thing going to help us pick the lock?" Seven asked.
"Something like that," [Y/N] replied as she took a pin out of her hair. She located a small button on the prototype and used the pin to press it. The little robot sprang to life, spider-like legs crawling up her arm. She plucked it off her hoodie and set it on the doorknob. She pulled back with Seven just in time for the robot to explode. Seven watched in slight awe as the door creaked open.
They nodded at each other and Seven pulled a gun from his belt. He loaded it and they cautiously followed the sound of a distorted voice, one that [Y/N] knew. They halted at the door to what was likely MC's room. The voice abruptly stopped, too.
Seven took a deep breath and kicked the door open, gun held in both hands. "Leave her alone," he said, voice threatening.
Saeran turned around with a smirk. "Now why would I do that, Luciel? I'm having so much fun. Aren't you?"
Seven's face went pale and the gun slipped from his hands, clattering to the floor. "Saeran...?"
Saeran laughed and stepped toward MC, who stepped back. She was visibly trembling.
"We had a plan," said Saeran to MC, "to bring you to us. But it was taking far too long." He took another step towards her. MC was out of space to step away. He had her cornered.
"Let her go," said [Y/N], trying desperately not to let her voice wobble.
"Well, what do we have here?" Saeran said, gaze threatening. [Y/N] prayed he wouldn't blow her cover.
For a long time, no one said anything. Then [Y/N] lunged at Saeran, pinning him to the floor. "Seven, get MC!" she instructed.
"Countdown to self-destruct: Twenty... Nineteen... Eighteen..." droned and artificial voice from the security system.
MC ran to Seven and wrapped her arms around his torso, burying her face in his chest. He gently but firmly pried her away and turned to where [Y/N] had Saeran pinned. "There's a bomb in here. It goes off when anyone other than MC or me enters. We'll all die if you stay here, Saeran. You too, [Y/N]. Both of you, evacuate NOW." He nodded at [Y/N] to release Saeran.
[Y/N] and Saeran climbed their way out the broken window in the last five seconds of the countdown. Once they'd safely landed on the ground, [Y/N] turned to glare at Saeran. "What the actual fuck was that?"
He didn't answer, but instead took off running.
"Come back!" She shouted after him. She thought of going after him for a split second, but she knew it was a stupid idea. Instead, she watched him disappear around a corner as Seven and MC came running outside, MC's hand tightly clutching Seven's.
