[Chapter Twenty-Four]

Emmarentia sat on Éponine's bed and for the last five minutes, she had been attempting to coax the girl from her hiding spot. After suggesting a little kissing practice with her, Éponine had entered a state of panic, letting out a screech and falling off of her bed. She proceeded to crawl under it, taking her duvet as a hostage. No matter what Emmarentia said to get her to come out, she remained hidden. It was slightly amusing to the confident girl, to witness her friend who was so bashful and shy when it came to any sort of touching that went above the level of a simple high-five. It was sweet and for some reason, Emmarentia found herself attracted to the innocent nature of the girl a lot more than she ever anticipated.

Of course, Emmarentia was smart enough to know that nothing would ever become between them, after all, it was clear that Éponine was pretty smitten with Regulus. While the two wouldn't come out and admit anything, Emmarentia had seen the interaction between the two. The way Regulus looked at her, the way Éponine blushed, and the way they smiled at each other. It was a far cry from how the two reacted to each other the year prior, one would probably never imagine that they borderline hated each other at one point.

So while she didn't stand a chance with Éponine, it didn't mean that she couldn't experience what it would be like to kiss her. After all, it would give Éponine the chance to learn how to kiss so that she would be better prepared and confident when it came to sharing her first kiss with Regulus.

"What do you plan on doing with Regulus when it comes to your wedding day? Kiss him on the cheek?" Emmarentia questioned as she fell back, laying on Éponine's bed. She folded her hands on top of her stomach, staring up at the emerald canopy that draped over the four-poster bed.

"No," came the quiet answer from under the bed. "But I'm not marrying him for at least another two years or so."

"You're going to share your first kiss with him on your wedding day? Where's the fun in that, Éponine?"

"I don't know."

"Look, it's not like we're going to snog, it just gives you something to expect. It'll be fine, I promise you. If you don't like it, all you have to do is pull away."

Silence fell once more over the dorm room and finally, Emmarentia heard the sound of Éponine climbing out from under the bed and seconds later, the girl appeared, her eyes peeking over the side of her bed.

"But what if I'm terrible?"

Sitting up, Emmarentia smiled in her direction. "You won't be terrible,  Éponine. You'll just be inexperienced, that's all. Everyone has to have a starting point, but just know that you'll only get better. By the time you and Regulus share your first kiss, the boy won't even know what hit him. You'll have him walking around the corridors with the stupidest grin on his face."

At the thought of Regulus being swooned by her, it brought a small smile to Éponine's lips before she pushed herself up. Slowly, she stood up and sat back down on her own bed, still a nervous-wreck but curious enough to leave herself open to the idea. Happy that the girl was accepting the little lesson, Emmarentia pushed herself up, now kneeling before Éponine and closing the space between them as she grew closer.
