I closed the door to my apartment and smiled. I walked into the bedroom and changed back into my suit, packed up all my equipment, and left. Jade happened to be walking in the lobby as I was leaving. She winked at me and so I winked back. After reaching the airport I sent all my stuff through security, flashing my badge to try and help the weapons pass through. In hindsight those were a lot less useful than I thought they'd be. I sat waiting to board the plane when a man with a full grown mustache and beard, a beanie, plaid button down shirt, with skin tight jeans. He looked at me and just smiled. My attention was taken to see airport security running towards someone. I go to stand up when the hipster grabs my shoulder and pushes me back down. Quickly I look at him when he says, "I'm with Cypher Mr. Stark."
"Who the hell is Cypher?" I grabbed his hand and threw it off of me. "Y'know what. I don't have time for this. Something is happening and it's my job to help."
I tried getting up again but this man kept pulling me back down. "No. I insist that you listen to me. The FBI isn't telling you everything."
"Well obviously, they never do."
"Yes but this is different. You're tracking three very high ranking members of our organization that have actually done a lot of good." He sounded concerned.
"My job is to track and bring in my targets. Don't get in my way." What was this man talking about. If the FBI wanted them then they've had to have done something wrong.
"Mr. Stark they've liberated people from the government's control over them. Haven't you ever wondered why people comply with whatever they're told. Even in your line of work, people blindly follow orders. If they step out of line, they disappear. Ever wonder why?" He made a good point. I've seen people do one wrong thing and disappear off the face of the earth, like they never existed. No work records, medical records or even birth certificates. The same thing happens with our targets.
"So what. A couple people disappear. What does that have to do with my targets?" I was getting annoyed. First a threat after trying to find Sam and now some fool telling me what I was doing was wrong.
"We live in a dictatorship. Not a democracy. If anybody steps out of line then the government will remove them. Does the term debriefing sound familiar?" How did he knows this? Maybe a coincidence? No, too specific. Ex CIA or FBI? No he'd have been debriefed. "Charles Stark I am formally inviting you to join Cypher while also asking for your help."
"No. Now this conversation is over." I lurch up and speed walk over to the terminal and get on the plane. Nobody else is here. Good I may actually be able to get some peace and quiet for 5 minutes.
As soon as I sit down I see this man run onto the plane. "Mr. Stark, please listen to me! Don't you want to be free of the dictator's control? To be free to do whatever you please when, where, and how you want? Just imagine it!" Quickly I assess that nobody's on the plane yet and pull gun. The wannabe hipster quickly steps back with fear. "Woah! There's no reason for such hostility!" Now he was sounding like a hipster.
"You provoked this the moment you sat down so I suggest that you walk your happy ass off this plane and somewhere else before I shoot you! His left shoulder was my target as the man took a step to me. One more step and I pull this trigger!
He had stopped at this threat and checked his watch then looked at me. It appears that my time, is up! The hipster quickly runs out of the plane. I start to chase after him only to be greeted by a crowd of people and get pushed back into my seat. Seated next to me was a very heavy-set man that probably weighed over 300 lbs so there was no chance of me getting up. Quietly, I sit in my seat waiting for the plane to take off and thinking. Could that man really be with CYPHER, or was it all a trick? My eyes drift shut as the plane takes off into the night sky.
