Isadora

Someone knocks on the bathroom door and Meg's voice comes through, asking me if I'm ready yet. "Just a second!" I check my makeup one more time and slip on my shoes before opening the door.

She looks me over and gives a little whistle of approval. Blushing, I smack her shoulder and we both start laughing. "You look nice."

"Thank you." My makeup is minimal, like always, but I used a shimmery gold shadow and a pale red lip stain to make my eyes stand out. I look down at my outfit, my red cocktail dress with black flats, and hope this is what Lin meant.

He came up to me yesterday after training and told me to wear something nice tonight. That's all he told me- not why, not where we're going, just to dress nice. I'm assuming we're going out; in all the time we've been together we've only gone on what? Five, ten dates?

A noise sounds from down the hallway and we both snap our heads in that direction before she pulls me along after her. I pull out of her hold and she stops and turns back to me, about to grab my arm again. I hold up my finger before pulling up the hem of my dress, revealing a dagger holstered to my thigh with a garter belt. She bursts out laughing, giving me a nod of approval, and pulls me into the living room as she finally manages to stop laughing.

Lin is waiting with Vlain and I look between them questioningly. Vlain smiles at me warmly and I return it before turning my attention to my boyfriend. He's wearing black slacks with a black dress shirt and red tie. I smile at him, mostly because I love him but also partially because we unknowing coordinated our outfits.

He walks up to me and takes my hand, giving it a kiss before standing back up and looping my arm through his. "You look marvelous, Kitty. Are you ready? We have a reservation." I nod, blushing at his complement, before wondering where we're going for the billionth time since he's asked me.

We get out to the car and everyone's playing around in the garden nearby. It's only mid afternoon (which is kind of weird that everyone's awake and hanging out, considering that we've all pretty much become nocturnal). Eli gives us a knowing smirk from his spot under the tree but I don't think much of it because Em comes running over as a ferret and tells me how pretty I look. After thanking her I get in the car and Lin closes the door behind me, a second later starting Peony and driving towards our unknown destination.

"Where are we going?" I keep my eye on the road, trying to use my heightened sight to pick out any road signs, and see him chuckle out of the corner of my eye.

"As I've already told you- it's a secret. I hope you like it." With this he gives my hand a squeeze and I return it, resting our hands in between us with our fingers wound together. I resign myself to not finding out until we get there and click on the radio, singing along softly to the few songs I know. One thing about being somewhere English speaking again, besides that I can watch TV and understand what's going on, is that I have a better likelihood of knowing songs.

We've been driving for nearly three hours, reminding me of the fact that we live in the middle of nowhere, and we've finally reached a city. I've asked but he won't even tell me which one it is (which simultaneously irks me and adds to my curiosity).

After a few more minutes we park in front of what appears to be an Italian restaurant (yum! Italian's my favorite beside Chinese) and Lin hands the valet the key before opening my door for me and helping me out. I look around, surprise clear on my face, and he gives a small chuckle before smiling and leading me inside.

I'm so excited!
