Luis's POV

I pulled her along the road, ignoring her moans of boredom and tiredness. This was something we had to do, and it had to be done now.

"Alfieeeeee!!" she whined. It took all of my strength not to turn around and kiss her. All of it.

"Laceyyyyyy!!" I mimicked her and got a slap on the arm for it.

"It's not funny Alfie, where are we going!?" I laughed at her. She was so cute.

"Were going somewhere private, give us two minutes"

Three minutes later, she was still whining as I sat her down on a park bench, as far from anyone else possible. "Here we are. Privacy"

"So, what did you want to talk about?" Her green eyes bore into my brain. They looked confused but safe.

"I want...to talk about our escape plan" I stuttered, afraid of her answer.

I registered the shock on her face as I said that and I realised I may have spoke too soon.

"Alfie...I...I don't know if I'm ready to leave yet"

"I understand that you feel nervous Lace, but it wouldn't be for another month. You'd have to grow your wings, learn how to hide them and fly with them. Then we'd also have to find an excuse for you to leave, and pack and plan the route home and..."

"Okay, okay, Alfie, I get it. It's a long way off, and you just want to plan ahead. Okay" She sighed.

"So Lace, will you, please?" I pouted at her cross face.

She was strong for a minute, but then caved in, spluttering and laughing at my stupidity.

"Of course Alfie, I would go anywhere with you, you know that"

"Why don't you call me Luis, it's my real name you know?" I asked her curiously.

"I know. Its just that you will always be Alfie to me. Alfie is the little boy who was my best friend and who promised we would always be together forever. Alfie was the little boy I had my first and only crush on. Alfie is the guy you are now, and I feel like nothing has changed. Your still my best friend, we're together and your still my one and only crush. I still love you Alfie"

"Lacey..I..I just...can't...no...you can't..." I was speechless, completely dumbfound. If only she knew.

"You don't like me, do you? Not like that anyway. Oh god, I'm so stupid" Tears started to form in the corners of her eyes.

That was it.

I leaned forward and placed my lips on hers. Her lips tasted sweet, of coffee and tears.

She kissed me back and laced her hands up around my neck and into my hair.

On impulse, I wrapped my arms around her waist and deepened our kiss.

It was perfect. It was what I had been waiting to do for years. Now I finally had the chance.

After a few minutes she pulled away, breathless. She smiled at me, her perfect little smile, and it just made me feel so much more guilty.

"No, I shouldn't of done that. I'm so sorry"

I took a step back and she took one forward,

"Alfie, why are you sorry? That's what I wanted. I'm happy when I'm with you."

"Me too Lace, me too, but there is something I must tell you"

She looked slightly worried.

"Alfie...what?" Her stern voice just made me want to kiss her all over again.

"Well...uhh....you may be...um....betrothed to someone else. Back home, since you were born, and I sort of didn't tell you!, I'm sorry, please don't be mad"

"Wait...I'm supposed to be with someone else, and you never said anything!? What's wrong with you?"

"Lacey...please..." she was crying by now, and so was I.

"No Alfie, I can't play this game. I'd better go"

I just sat there, deflated, as I watched my perfect girl slowly walk away. With not so much as a 'Come back'.

Good job Luis, good job
