21: Aftermath

Hannah's POV:

John fell to the side of Lara and I could see the shock in her eyes. I knew I had to explain my self to her. "How is this possible?" Lara asked. I sighed, "let me tell you."

"John did hit me with the bat, but I only got a minor concussion. He kept me in a secret compartment in the basement that was soundproof."

Lara looked at me with confusion. "But why didn't he kill you?"

"He was keeping me as a backup Lara, just in case you didn't provide him with the child he wanted." Her eyes dropped and I realized what I said. "But trust me Lara, you don't want to believe anything that man says." She smiled a bit at that.

I continued, "he gave me enough food to live, and when he realized George was disabled he came to me and said how me and my baby would replace you. I knew John was a sick man so I began to plan my escape. I slowly began to dig at the locked hidden door each night, but slowly, so that John would not see me. It took all of my willpower to not breakdown during my escape plan."

At this point the other man on the ground began to moan and Lara rushed to him. "Dad?" Lara croaked, "I'm here sweetly," the man responded. "Let's clean his wounds and Maya's." Lara said, it was at that point that I saw my older sister on the ground and panic took over me and I agreed to help."

As Lara tended to her father and I tended to Maya I continued. "I knew I had to try and get out fast because my baby was growing inside of me, and a few hours ago I broke the door. I snuck upstairs and thankfully found out that the basement door was unlocked. I heard fighting coming from the front so I dashed upstairs and grabbed John's gun. I rushed back here and saw you and, well, the rest is history."

Then Maya woke up with a grunt and I hugged her. "Hey big sis," I said with tears in my eyes. "H-hi," she responded. "I've got a splitting headache," "She should get to the hospital." I spun around and saw Lara's dad was standing up now and was peering down at us. "What about you?" Lara asked. "He smiled sadly, "unfortunately Lara, I now need to undo all of John's contract madness so I can officially join the public again. It'll take around a year." Lara tries to speak but he cut her off. "Darling, we can discuss everything after I bring Maya to the hospital," he looked at John. "I'll let you deal with him."

Lara's POV:

As Dad and Maya walked out of the door John groaned and spit up blood. "You... you bitches!" He attempted to yell but it came out as a loud croak. I went up to him and smashed my foot into his groin and he bowled with pain. Hannah did the same and then the strangest thing happened, something I never would have expected John to do. He began to cry, his tears flowed down his checks as he tried to say something. I leaned in closer to hear and all I heard was, "I'm sorry mama, I'm so sorry I've become this monster. I love you mama, I love you."

I got up, shocked at what I heard, Hannah was about to nail him in the groin again but I stopped her. "Let's just end this." I said. "But he deserves so much pain!" Hannah screamed. "We will kill him," I started, "but it will be quick, a bullet to the head." Hannah looked at the ground and then back at me. "Fine," she picked up the gun and pointed it at John's head. "Together," I said. I wrapped my hand around hers and both of our fingers lay on the trigger. "One," I said, "two," said Hannah. I sucked in a deep breath, "three."
