My claws dug into King's flesh as I viciously clawed him. Sharp teeth sank into my neck and claws dug into my side. Shadows gripped onto my limbs, pulling me off of the evil tom. Blood dribbled out of my mouth as I felt my pelt light up. The yellow-green shone brightly, illuminating the dark camp. Power filled my very being, energizing my movements. My tail swished rapidly as the dark tom leaped at me, one of his allies joining in. Both of their heavy bodies caused me to tumble onto the rugged ground.
Light flared from my eyes, streaking out in powerful wisps. An enraged snarl built up in my chest and roared out of me. My body trembled with power as I shook them off, quickly biting onto the she-cat's paw. She shrieked and clawed me near my eye. Blood splattered into my vision as I struck her with a blast of light. The shadows that clung to her pelt whisked away, their smokey remains muddling the air.
She looked at me with fear and scurried away. As I was distracted by the fleeing she-cat, King attacked me. His claws shredding easily through my flesh, and shadows surrounding me. Sucking the light out of me. I shook, his claws stuck in my skin. The gray tom lunged at me, his mouth sinking into my side. Chunks of fur were pulled from my pelt and water splashed out of my eyes. The stench of death had risen into the air, indicating the first of many.
My nose scrunched up as I squirmed relentlessly, ignoring the stinging pain on my side. My heart thundered in panic as My limbs began to feel weaker and weaker. My claws dug into his thick fluffy fur and ripped at his flesh in panic. He flung me away, pulling his stuck claw out along with some of my own flesh. I howled in pain, glaring at the tom. As I was about to leap at him, shadows clawed at me once more, pinning me on to the ground. King stalked towards me, his lifeless black eyes reflecting my terrified form. He would kill me. He would kill me. He would ki-.
The bulky tom was tackled by a small tabby tom. Panic flared within me as I noticed the green collar and the rough bone that dangled from it. Light erupted from my body, causing the shadows that gripped me to shriek in agony. A ferocious growl rose from Amos's chest, "I won't let you kill anyone else I love!"
I stumbled in shock. Amos knew this malicious tom. He knew him. King snarled, "If it isn't the runt. Are you still stuck up over the fact that your mother died by my claws? I thought my son would be better than that." My ears pulled back and I looked wildly between the two bristling toms. They were related. This was father and son. King... King killed Amos's mother...
Without any warning King struck, his body leaping into the air before viciously colliding with my small friend. Blood splattered in the air as they dueled. Cries of pain from Amos fueled me as I rushed over to them.
Nakoma's voice echoed in the raging battle, "Varian, focus on the shadows!"
No. No! I can't. My body lowered into a crouch and I sprung at the fighting toms. Claws and teeth dug into me and a deafening cry sounded from Amos. My heart broke at the pain that filled and, and fury built up inside of me. "How dare you!" I knocked off King with a bat of my paw, causing him to go flying. Sparks streaked out of my eyes as my rage kept building and building. With closed eyes I focused on the light inside of me, blocking out the shrieks of pain, the smell of death, the shadows gripping onto me once more. Just focusing. Focus. Focus. My eyes snapped open and I shot a raging ball of light at the dark gray tom. The shadows on me disintegrated and I ran after the light. Blood pounded in my ears and stones dug into my paws.
The light struck King in his chest, and he crumbled on to the ground. As soon as I reached him, I dug my claws into him. Striking him with a force I never knew I possessed. Blood spurted out of him, staining my muzzle and my paws. Strike after strike, blow after blow. The tom I was attacking spat out blood, on the verge of death. His black lifeless eyes flashed back to brown. This time they were filled with a warm light that caused me to hesitate.
